Soyer: “Our target is the second half of 2024”
In his speech, President Tunç Soyer said, “I have young friends who work in the field management, prepare the candidacy application file and put effort into this job. Good luck to each of them. It's a miracle, it's an extraordinary job to complete a work that should have taken 16 months in 4 months. If Historical İzmir, Birgi, Gediz Delta and Foça, Çandarlı and Çeşme castles on the UNESCO World Heritage tentative list are included in the permanent list, we will have brought together 6 points of the city with the UNESCO brand, together with Ephesus and Bergama. Then we will have taken a very important step towards making İzmir a world city. We are getting there step by step. We will continue to support with great enthusiasm and with all our strength.”
To be visited at the end of the month
Stating that they will visit Izmir Governor Yavuz Selim Köşger and Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy at the end of August, Mayor Soyer said, “We know how he supported the process from the beginning. We will ask for his support to ensure that our file is delivered to UNESCO in February. I am sure he will do his best in this regard.
