Is Ankara Metro Closed? Batikent Sincan Metro Not Working?

The question of whether the Ankara metro is closed has become a matter of curiosity because certain stations of the M3 line, which is serving between Batıkent and Sincan, are not working. Ankara Metropolitan Municipality and EGO General Directorate made statements on the subject. So, why does the Ankara metro not work and when will it open? Here are the details

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality EGO General Directorate, Ankara Metro Batıkent-Sincan Line (M3) Soil correction work in two separate areas of the line between Istanbul Yolu Station and Botanik Station, due to deterioration in the rail infrastructure as a result of the use of inappropriate materials during the construction of the line, 10 August 2022 It started on Wednesday.

During the work planned between August 10 and September 10, 2022, there will be no operation at Istanbul Road, Botanik, Mesa and West Central Stations. Citizens will be transported by bus transfer between Eryaman 1-2 and Batıkent Stations in order to avoid victimization during the work.

It was determined that unsuitable materials were used in the construction of the line between Istanbul Yolu Station and Botanik Station, which is the continuation of the Kızılay-Batikent Metro and completed by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.

The situation that emerged as a result of the examination and survey carried out by the EGO General Directorate was also supported by the drilling work and the reports of the academicians. Acting in line with the opinions and suggestions of the academicians, the EGO General Directorate decided to change the infrastructure of the 129-meter section of the line, which was filled incorrectly.

After the drilling work and the reports of the academicians revealed the problem on the ground, the EGO General Directorate took action upon intense complaints from the citizens, due to the speed and comfort of travel being affected after the train speed limit was reduced to 5 km/h for passenger safety.

In line with the opinions and suggestions of the academicians, the infrastructure of the 129-meter section of the line, which was filled incorrectly, will be replaced between 10 August and 10 September 2022. During the work, there will be a bus transfer between Eryaman 1-2 and Batıkent Stations so that citizens will not experience any grievances, since there will be no operation at Istanbul Road, Botanik, Mesa and Batı Central Stations.

After the completion of the works, the train operation in the region will be offered to the citizens again as safer, more comfortable and shortened travel time.

The EGO Bus and Metro service program, which is planned to be implemented during the work that will continue until September 10, 2022, is given below (ANNEX-1, APPENDIX-2 and ANNEX-3).
