Fisheries and Animal Products Exports in Aegean Region Exceeded 1 Billion Dollars

Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters' Association increased its exports of 2021 million dollars in July 110 to 2022 million dollars with an increase of 20% in July 132, and increased its exports to 1 billion 29 million dollars with an increase of 1% in the last 500-year period. Reminding that the Turkish aquaculture and animal products industry exceeded its 2023 export target of 3,5 billion dollars in February 2022, Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters' Association President Bedri Girit continued his words as follows:

“As the Turkish aquaculture and animal products sector, which achieved its 2023 target two years ago, we set it as 2022 billion dollars for the end of 3,8 and 2023 billion dollars for the end of 4,2. Our aquaculture exports accounted for 1 billion 1,5 million dollars of our record of 1 billion dollars in the last 23-year period. We made 1 percent of Turkey's 548 billion 66 million dollars of aquaculture exports in the last year from the Aegean Region. In the last year, we have increased our average export price of fishery products from 5,7 dollars to 6,6 dollars. Breeding in Turkey has grown a lot in the last 20 years. This is also reflected in our export figures. The Aegean Region is also the leading region at this point. Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters' Association, which was in the last place in exports within the scope of EİB in 1980, is now the leader in food and the second among all sectors with this development.”

Sea bass, sea bream, tuna, trout exports reached 951 million dollars

Crete mentioned that they sent fishery products to 155 countries, primarily the United Kingdom with 138 million dollars, Italy with 113 million dollars, and the Netherlands with 62 million dollars.

“Greece is among our biggest export markets with 96 million dollars, Russia with 78 million dollars, Germany with 63 million dollars, Spain with 52 million dollars, the USA with 51 million dollars and Japan with 41 million dollars. We achieved an income of 19 million dollars with an increase of 951 percent from sea bass, sea bream, tuna and trout, which dominate the export of seafood. The United Kingdom is our first market in our sea bass export, which has reached 1 million dollars with an increase of 22 percent in the last 476-year period, and we reached 9 million dollars with an increase of 340 percent in sea bream, where Italy stands out. While our tuna export increased by 57 percent to 110 million dollars, we exported the most to Japan, and our trout export, which Germany stands out, was 25 million dollars.”

Poultry exports increased by 1 percent in the last 139 year

Bedri Girit said that they realized the second largest item in the exports of aquaculture and animal products with a share of 259 million dollars, and the export of poultry, which showed the highest increase in exports with a rate of 139, to 59 countries:

“We increased our poultry exports to Iraq with an increase of 219 percent to $99 million, to China to $270 million with an increase of 63 percent, and to Congo to $60 million with an increase of 16 percent. Our egg exports, which increased by 1 percent in our exports of 23 billion 23 million dollars aquaculture and animal products, reached 87 million dollars. In our egg exports to 32 countries where the Middle East and Gulf countries are the main markets, we exported 92 million dollars to the United Arab Emirates with a 27 percent acceleration, 25 million dollars to Qatar with a 10 percent increase, and 9 million dollars to Kuwait.”

2035 billion dollars target by 10

Girit said, “We achieved an acceleration of 50 million dollars in milk and dairy products, which we exported to 29 countries, with an increase of 74 percent. Egypt ranks first with 250 million dollars with an increase of 14 percent, the United Arab Emirates is in second place with an increase of 7 percent with 14 million dollars, and Iraq is in third place with an increase of 25 percent with 6 million dollars. We exported honey to 32 countries and increased it to 23 million dollars with an increase of 13 percent. The USA is the first two countries in our honey exports with an increase of 12 percent to 5 million dollars, Germany an increase of 29 percent to 3 million dollars. Spain, where we have accelerated by 1 percent in the last 284 year, rose to the third place with 1,4 million dollars. Our other aquaculture and animal products product group constitutes 50 million dollars of our exports. We will continue to produce and export in order to become a sector that will bring 2035 billion foreign currency to Turkey by continuously increasing our exports until 10.” said.
