Cooperation in Railway Transport between Turkey and Romania

Romanian Ambassador to Turkey Stefan Alexandru Tinca visited the General Manager of the Republic of Turkey State Railways (TCDD), Hasan Pezük. During the visit, the works to be done to strengthen the deep-rooted ties between Turkey and Romania with iron nets were examined.

TCDD General Manager Hasan Pezük hosted Romania's Ambassador to Turkey Stefan Alexandru Tinca and Economy and Trade Undersecretary Mihaela Turbăceanu. At the meeting held at the General Directorate of TCDD, it was decided to take steps to develop cooperation in railway transportation.

TCDD General Manager Hasan Pezük said that they wanted to increase the transport capacity from our country to Europe by sharing general data on the railway network. Reminding that infrastructure works are continuing to provide connection from Samsun, Constanta and Karasu ports to the east-west direction transport corridor and to the Mediterranean ports in the south, Hasan Pezük said, HalkalıHe stated that with the completion of the Kapikule Line, the transport capacity can be improved with Romania. Stating that a wagon reaching Bucharest was added to the Istanbul-Sofia passenger train serving between Turkey and Bulgaria, upon Romania's request, TCDD General Manager Hasan Pezuk noted that the number of wagons could be increased with the joint work of the administrations of the two countries. Hasan Pezük said that the railway cooperation to be made will strengthen the relations between the two countries.

Romanian Ambassador to Turkey Ștefan Alexandru Tinca wished our General Manager Hazan Pezük success in his new assignment. Expressing that they wish to improve the existing relations and cooperation in the railway sector with reference to the good relations of the two countries, Ambassador Ștefan Alexandru Tinca said that Turkey, located in the Middle Corridor on the China-Europe route, has good connections with both the east and the west, and that Romania is also in this corridor. He stated that he wanted to increase his activities. Tnca wished to increase the transportation between Turkey and Romania both via Black Sea ports and Bulgaria. Ambassador Tinca added that he wished the tourists coming from Romania to Turkey this year would prefer the railway for their future travels and that shortening the travel time would contribute to this.

At the end of the meeting, it was agreed that the railway companies of the two countries should organize an organization in order to embody the cooperation.
