The President of Ankara Bagel Shops Chamber, Savaş Delibaş, announced that the simit, which was sold for 3 liras at the beginning of the year, will be 5 liras starting this week. Delibaş said, “Some tradesmen sell bagels for 6 TL. We are struggling to meet the costs," he said.
Ankara Pide Makers, Bagelmakers and Pastries Chamber of Tradesmen and Craftsmen, Chairman Savaş Delibaş, stated that the increase in labor, energy and raw material costs since the beginning of the year has been reflected in prices and announced that there will be a raise in simit in Ankara.
According to Delibaş's statements; The simit sold in lira at the beginning of the year will be 5 TL from this week. It is expected that Ankara Simitciler Chamber's request for a raise will be approved by the end of this week.
Speaking to Sputnik, Delibaş said, “Due to the excessively increasing costs, we have requested an increase in the price of 4 grams of simit, which is currently sold for 90 TL. While all our costs are increasing, we cannot increase according to our head. The parent organizations we are affiliated with must approve this hike. This request has been approved and we are now waiting for the official letter. With the arrival of the summer, the price of bagels will increase by the end of this week,” he said.
Stating that the tradesmen are in a difficult situation with the increase in input costs, Delibaş said, “The prices of raw materials used for bagels are increasing day by day. Rents are gone. The minimum wage was raised twice during the year. However, labor costs have increased. Natural gas and electricity prices are high. We demanded a raise, but our costs increased again until this request was approved. Now the bagel will be 5 TL. Some tradesmen sell simit for 6 TL. We are struggling to meet the costs," he said.
