Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony held for the first phase of the 'Baltalimanı Yaşam Vadisi', which will bring a total of 250 thousand new active green spaces to the city, İmamoğlu said that they not only brought an extraordinarily beautiful green area to Istanbul, but also solved the infrastructure problems and prevented the opening of the river banks to construction. Saying "I don't understand why it was hidden from the people of Istanbul" for the Atatürk City Forest, which was put into service in Sarıyer district in 2020, İmamoğlu said, "We are also presenting the model for developing natural areas in a natural way here. In the Black Sea, in Central Anatolia or Southeastern Anatolia, and in Istanbul, there are 'Nation Gardens' like the prototype. Impossible. LUXURIOUS HOUSING BUILT IN AYAMAMA BY THE GOVERNMENT
In his speech, İmamoğlu stated that the streams of Istanbul could not be protected and said, “Right now, those who built cities on Istanbul's streams, those who built huge buildings, those who built luxury houses on the banks of the Ayamama Stream, as if the state needed them, caused problems. Most of them are unfortunately the work of the last 20-30 years. We can see that this was done during this period without going too far back. At the end of the day, sometimes we can call these mistakes 'betrayal'. This is betrayal. Sometimes it took lives, sometimes it left people in a difficult situation. God forbid, maybe in case of an earthquake, Istanbul has now turned into a threat area," he said.
Stating that a vision has been put forward to reverse these risks, the President of IMM said, “We collect rain water here and ensure that it reaches the sea or the Bosphorus over these streams in a healthy way. On the other hand, we prevent the mixing of sewers in these areas, that is, we carry out such rehabilitation. With these valleys we make, we do not only provide you with an extraordinarily beautiful green area above it. At the same time, we are accomplishing a really important job by solving infrastructure problems. In addition, we prevent the opening of such streams for construction," he said.
“I DON'T UNDERSTAND IN WHICH MIND THE ATATÜRK CITY FOREST WAS HIDDEN”
Explaining that great progress has been made in the field of green space only in Sarıyer in three years, Mayor İmamoğlu said the following about the projects implemented in the district and the Atatürk City Forest, which he calls 'a miraculous area': “Atatürk Urban Forest was put into service in 2020. Before this date, it was not possible to use this area. It was not open to our citizens. I don't understand why this place was hidden from the people of Istanbul. When we went to visit there with our mayor and our deputy, I was astounded. We put it into service in just over a year with a quick work…I call out to the people of Istanbul. You can go with the metro. You can get off at the stop and visit 1 million 200 thousand square meters. Büyükdere Nursery, where our friends have matured their projects, will also make 300 thousand square meters of land serve Sarıyer by agreeing to a large extent the financing of the nursery that Atatürk entrusted to us, by putting this into a mutual protocol and solving some of it with our own financing. We will do it very fast. There will also be a section that tells, conveys and gives trainings about the seed culture of this country, with its function, the field that Atatürk gifted to Istanbul as a nursery.”

İBB Deputy Secretary General Arif Gürkan Alpay also shared the following information about the project: “Within the scope of this project, in addition to bringing a green valley to our city, we are also implementing wastewater and rainwater infrastructures that have been waiting for a solution for years. Within the scope of our project, we have a total area of 100 thousand square meters, a thousand 437 meters of uninterrupted bicycle path and 2 thousand 950 meters of walking axle. Its functions will include a book cafe, a buffet and three bridges. Along with children's playgrounds, street playgrounds, adult playgrounds, sports fields, a skate park and a climbing wall will also be available. At the end of this year, we will have put the first phase of all these, especially the 100 thousand square meters, into the use of our people.”
