55.5 Million Vehicles Passed The Osmangazi Bridge

Transport and Infrastructure Minister Adil Karaismailoğlu announced that the number of vehicles passing through the Osmangazi Bridge, one of the world's leading suspension bridges, has reached 55.5 million. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu made a statement about Osmangazi Bridge. Noting that as the Ministry, they invested 2003 trillion 2022 billion liras in Turkey's transportation and communication infrastructure between 1 and 670, Karaismailoğlu stated that they carried Turkey to the future by signing prestigious projects for the last 20 years. Emphasizing that the Osmangazi Bridge is only one of them, Karaismailoğlu pointed out that Osmangazi Bridge, which is among the few suspension bridges in the world, constitutes the most important part of the Istanbul-Izmir Highway with a total length of 426 kilometers.

THE JOURNEY TAKING HOURS ENDED WITH OSMANGAZI BRIDGE

Karaismailoğlu said, “The bridge, which was built between Dilovası and Hersek Cape and connects the two sides of the Gulf of Izmit, is 2 thousand 682 meters long in total. With Osmangazi Bridge, transportation took a breath and relaxed. It took an hour and a half to cross the bay by car using the existing road, and 1550 to 7 minutes by ferry. On busy days, the waiting time was hours. The journey, which took hours, ended with the Osmangazi Bridge and it took 45 minutes.

ANNUAL 6.6 BILLION TL SAVINGS

Reminding that the bridge was completed on 1 July 2016 and opened to the service of citizens, Karaismailoğlu continued his statement as follows:

“While 2 million 123 thousand vehicles passed through the Osmangazi Bridge in the year it was opened, this number approached 2021 million in 11. In the January-July period of 2022, 8 million 793 thousand 955 vehicles used the Osmangazi Bridge. With the bridge, we also saved time and fuel. With the opening of Osmangazi Bridge; We saved a total of 4 billion 670 million TL annually, 1 billion 933 million TL per year from time and 6 billion 603 million TL from fuel consumption. In addition, we reduced our carbon emissions by 402 thousand tons per year. With the investments we make, we are happy to transport our citizens to their loved ones and their destinations quickly, comfortably and safely. With the support of our nation, our investments will continue without slowing down. We will implement the projects that will carry our country to the future one by one. We will continue to fulfill our responsibility. We don't have a minute to lose."
