Foça Handicraft Jewelry Group, founded 12 years ago by a group of mostly retired women in Foça District of İzmir, opened a magnificent exhibition with eye-catching works after the pandemic. Hundreds of works produced by 7 members of the group, some of whom took a break from their work due to health reasons, attracted the attention of Foça residents and Foça visitors.
The exhibition opened at the Reha Midilli Cultural Center Exhibition Hall featured works produced by Yasemin Uzunöner, Dilek Demir, Zehra Özdirim, Asiye Civanlar, Gülşen Pasin, Ülker Bayır and Serap Oral, members of the Foça Handicraft Jewelry Group. While the jewelry made of sea stones of Foça attracted attention, the specially designed jewelry produced with different techniques brought a feast to the eyes of those who visited the exhibition hall. He said that they continued their efforts successfully despite various difficult times and the forced breaks of some of their friends.
Yasemin Uzunoner; I settled in Foça after I retired in 1997. We created a group called Foça Handicraft Jewelry Group. We started with them so that we could bring up the place we live in, make one-color single-model works with handcrafted jewellery, and open exhibitions. This year is our 12th year with that group. We opened our exhibition. Special design exhibition. We use the beach stones of Foça. We use all the techniques of jewelry. By sometimes mixing many techniques such as kilim weaving, macrame, myoke, peyote, crochet, water stone technique, everyone designs them according to their own taste and color. We are moving fast. There are those who follow our exhibitions a lot and even arrange their visit to Foça to the exhibition dates. We had our establishment with 10 people. Over the years, the number increased to 15. However, this number decreased during the pandemic. This year, for example, we opened an exhibition with 7 people. But their hearts are with us. When they solve their problems, they will join us again. We have a very pleasant cooperation. There are 320 works in the exhibition. We prepared 280 of them just as necklaces. He has a bracelet and an anklet next to him. All custom design. Foça bracelets, necklaces, thin, thick, anklets have their colors. It's called Foça jewelry. There is the kilim weaving technique, peyote, myoke, macrame, crochet, bead prison technique, there is the technique made on the bead loom. We created a beautiful Kocatepe painting of our Ata with it. With 70 thousand beads. There are belts. There are also various bracelets. There are those who work with beads and crystals and Japanese imported beads. We invite jewelry lovers to see our exhibition.”
The 12th year exhibition of Foça Elemeği Jewelry Group will continue until Sunday evening, August 28, 2022. The exhibition can be visited between 10.00:24.00 and XNUMX:XNUMX every day.
