The Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB) creates Technology-based R&D Roadmaps on the occasion of the Focus Technology Networks (OTAG) Meetings within the scope of technology acquisition studies. Acoustic Focus Technology Network (OTAG) Closing Meeting, which was held within the scope of technology acquisition studies, was held in SSB.

Within the scope of the Presidency of Defense Industry (SSB) technology acquisition studies, the Closing Meeting of the Acoustic Focus Technology Network (OTAG), which was established in 2020 with the participation of all stakeholders, was held in order to determine the current capabilities in the field of acoustic technologies in our country and the national critical and advanced technologies that need to be acquired.

SSB President Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir, Rector of Eskişehir Technical University Prof. Dr. Tuncay DÖĞEROĞLU, General Staff, Naval Forces Command, TÜBİTAK, Turkish Petroleum Corporation, representatives of universities and defense industry companies attended.

President of the Presidency of Defense Industry Prof. Dr. Ismail Demir explained. President Demir's statements are as follows:

“In line with our goals, our Presidency has created a new structure in which we can carry out our R&D studies much faster and more dynamically in order to meet the short and long-term needs of our Turkish Armed Forces and Police Forces within the framework of our R&D focus technology roadmaps. Within the scope of our focus technology networks studies, we work together with the common mind of our country in terms of advanced technology and the advanced technologies that need to be developed in this context, and we implement our projects by prioritizing technology.

In order to determine the current capabilities in the field of acoustic technologies in our country and the national critical and advanced technologies that need to be acquired, the Acoustic Focus Technology Network was established by our Agency with the participation of all stakeholders. Acoustic Focus Technology Network activities were initiated with the Launch on November 3, 2020, with the participation of 13 people from 26 institutions, 17 universities and research centers and 208 companies including the Naval Forces Command, Acoustic Systems, Acoustic Transducers, Indexes and Transduction Materials, Acoustic Signal/Data Processing. and Electronics, Acoustic Propagation/Environment Modeling and Simulation Focus Working Groups. As a result of the studies and meetings, 80 Technology Topics were determined and prioritized.

Within this year, we aim to publish the Acoustic OTAG Final Report and create an Acoustic Technologies Roadmap.”

Stating that they aim to plan, follow and support advanced technology acquisition studies with a holistic approach as the Presidency, Demir said that one of their main objectives is to bring R&D projects to life, that 4.1 billion TL worth of project work has been started in the field of R&D for the development of original products and technologies. He stated that projects worth 5 billion TL were realized in 1.2 years and that R&D expenditures correspond to approximately 14% of the total sector turnover.

It is aimed to complete the Acoustic OTAG studies, the results of which were announced at the Closing Meeting, in 2022 with the publication of the Acoustic OTAG Final Report and the creation of the Acoustic Technologies Roadmap.
