Samsun Çarşamba Airport Prepares for TEKNOFEST, 90 Percent Done

Samsun Metropolitan Municipality has come to an end in its works at Çarşamba Airport within the scope of TEKNOFEST 2022 preparations, which will contribute greatly to the promotion of the city in the national and international arena. In the asphalt work, 90 percent of which has been completed, excavation and filling was carried out in an area of ​​​​150 thousand square meters. 68 thousand square meters of hot asphalt was poured.

Samsun Metropolitan Municipality, which sees the festival to be held between 30 August and 4 September as an important opportunity for the development of the city's tourism, accelerated its infrastructure services. The Metropolitan Municipality, which has been working feverishly in every part of Samsun, has completed 90 percent of its work at Çarşamba Airport, where the festival will be held. In the area, road infrastructure and superstructure, parking areas and environmental arrangements were made.

At the airport, where 150 thousand square meters of excavation and filling work was carried out, 300 thousand cubic meters of filling material was used. The 2 thousand meter road was increased from 3.5 meters to 8 meters wide. As part of the work done, 68 thousand square meters of hot asphalt was poured into the area. In addition, 20 kilometers of surface coating work will be carried out for TEKNOFEST connection roads.

Stating that the works carried out by the Road Construction Maintenance and Repair Department are about to be completed, Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Demir said, “We are working day and night to ensure that this great event with international participation can be carried out perfectly in every aspect befitting our city. We have completed 90 percent of the infrastructure and superstructure works we carried out at the airport where the festival will be held. We aim to complete it completely by the end of July. We invest in many areas such as our Smart City Traffic Safety project, landscaping, science center, discovery campus. This festival is a very important opportunity for our city. I hope we will host an exemplary organization together with our deputies, Ondokuz Mayıs University and Samsun University, representatives of all public institutions and organizations, and NGOs. We will make the best use of this important opportunity for the promotion of our city, both at home and abroad.”
