The Ministry of Culture and Tourism will organize a playwriting competition on "Addiction" in order to encourage local writers and works.
In the competition, where the General Directorate of State Theaters started to accept applications on July 7, all kinds of addiction factors such as internet, substance use and gambling will be handled within the framework of the art of theater and awareness will be raised on this issue.
With the competition, the deadline of which is set as 30 December, the national theater culture will be revived and enriched, and original works and new perspectives will be brought to the Turkish theater.
Citizens of the Republic of Turkey or writers writing in Turkish can participate in the competition from within the country or abroad.
While the works must be original, stories, novels, poems, adapted works, short plays and children's plays will be excluded.
A person can apply to the competition with at most one work.
The works participating in the competition will be evaluated by the members of the State Theaters Literary Committee in terms of theme, subject, language, character, duration, dramatic play writing technique, originality and suitability for purpose.
The results of the competition will be announced on 27 March 2023 on the websites of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the General Directorate of State Theaters and on corporate social media accounts.
The winning plays will be included in the State Theaters repertory pool, and the first prize will be 45 thousand lira, the second prize 42 thousand 500 lira, and the third prize 40 thousand lira. The First Honorable Mention Award will be 37 thousand 500 TL and the second Honorable Mention Award will be 35 thousand TL.
