ASSEMBLY OF THE FUNICULE IS COMPLETED

The construction of the Rumeli Hisarüstü – Aşiyan Funicular, which started to be built in June 2017, was stopped in March 2019 due to lack of finance. Tunnel constructions were left unfinished, station and vehicle productions were never started, and even by creating equity, the construction works were restarted in July 2020. All contractual and financial problems were resolved and tunnel manufacturing, rail assemblies and vehicle production were completed. The drive system was made ready with the vehicles to be used in the enterprise. The assembly of the system is being completed in the funicular, which was taken over in June 2019 with a 23 percent physical progress. Testing will begin in August. With the opening of the line, the metro will meet with the coast and the sea on the Bosphorus for the first time. With the new cruise lines to be placed, it will contribute to the relief of traffic between the Anatolian and European sides and on the bridges.
