Karsan CEO Okan Baş, who took part as a speaker at the event, stated that the solution is to use zero-emission, environmentally friendly public transportation vehicles in order to reduce the carbon footprint, solve the problems in traffic and offer people more livable spaces, adding, “The first stop of public transportation is electric. The transformation from fossil fuel vehicles, which are among the most important causes of environmental pollution, to environmentally friendly, silent and technological 100 percent electric vehicles is of great importance. We predict that one out of every two buses sold in 2030 will be zero-emissions. The second step of the public transportation solution is driverless/autonomous vehicles, which will significantly eliminate driver-related traffic accidents.

Unlike passenger cars, we believe that autonomous public transportation vehicles will lead the world at least 10 years. Autonomous e-ATAK, Europe and America's first 8-meter full-length Level 4 bus, runs on a 5-kilometer route on the Michigan State University campus. Thanks to the sensitive mapping in the vehicle, the autonomous e-ATAK can approach the stops precisely in one go, providing 10% energy savings compared to the driver's use.

For the first time in Europe, Karsan Otonom started to carry passengers with e-ATAK tickets on an ordinary real public transportation line.
