The two-storey historical building, which is located on Basmane Oteller Street and was named as Silahhane by the locals because it was used as a weapons workshop for a period, was redesigned as a place that will become the new address of culture and art with the restoration of Konak Municipality. The center, which will serve as the Konak Municipality Sanathane Performing Arts Center, will meet with the people of Izmir in August.
The preparations for the Konak Municipality Sanathane Performing Arts Center, which has witnessed a period and will carry the nostalgia of the unforgettable open-air cinemas of Izmir, have been completed. The Sanathane, which will bring a new vision to the historical district of Izmir, Basmane, was designed to host many different cultural and artistic activities. The center, which will create nostalgia especially with open-air movie screenings, will host events in different branches from theater to cinema, from music concerts to stage shows. The center, which also hosts the Urban History Unit of Konak Municipality, will be inaugurated in August.
HELLO AGAIN TO SUMMER CINEMA
Konak Municipality's own resources were used completely in the works carried out in the garden section of the historical building, the restoration works of which were completed with great care. While the sitting benches were produced in the workshops of the municipality, the paving stones that were removed during the previous road and pavement works and found in the warehouses were used for the flooring. On the other hand, the exterior was colored with lighting, sculpture and artistic works. Bringing the historical building, which has an important place in the identity and memory of the city, to the city as an Arthouse, will also contribute to the social transformation of the region, adding value to the value of Basmane.
