The Ministry of National Education launched a new project to strengthen the family, which is the foundation of society. Parents became students at the Family School under 8 main topics, including communication within the family, conflict and stress management, conscious and safe use of technology, fight against addiction, development of social emotional skills, peer relations, moral development, healthy nutrition and physical activities.

In the Family School Project, the trainings that put the parents on the school desks; It started in 7 provinces, namely Ankara, İstanbul, İzmir, Samsun, Adana, Şanlıurfa and Erzurum.

The first of the courses, all of which are given by experts in their fields, is held in the field of "family communication" while the effects of the epidemic process continue. In this course, information is shared on how communication, which has become increasingly superficial, can be of better quality.

The aim of the "Conflict and Stress Management" course is to increase the power of coping with problems in the family.

In the “Conscious and safe use of technology” course, it is explained how parents and children can be online safely in real life without affecting their social lives.

In the "fighting addiction" class, on the other hand, guidance is given to cope with harmful habits and to lead a healthy life both physically and mentally.

The information given in the "Social Emotional Skills Development" course aims to deepen and strengthen the relationship between children and their parents.

While the "peer relations" course covers information to facilitate children's communication with their peers, the "moral development" courses help reinforce spirituality.

“Healthy nutrition and physical activities” course also contributes to a healthier family structure.

It is aimed to make the family structure more sheltered against possible risks with the trainings given under 8 main headings and as 44 hours.

Within the scope of the project, firstly, 350 teachers were given trainer training certificates in Erzurum. These trainers then trained 10 Family School teachers. So far, 789 thousand parents have benefited from Family School trainings in 7 provinces.

In order to expand the Family School, trainers' trainings in Mersin and İzmir were also completed. At the end of July, trainers' trainings will be held in Erzurum and also in the provinces within the scope of PİKTES.

Stating that they are working to provide comprehensive support to parents, who are the most important stakeholders of education, in this period of normalization in education as well as during the epidemic period, Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer stated that the Ministry provides all kinds of education services to adults outside the school age population through public education centers and maturation institutes.

Referring to the importance of the Family School project, Özer said, “We reached approximately 32 thousand families with the family school project. Comprehensive information about mechanisms to support the development of students such as 'domestic communication, domestic violence, digital addictions, substance addictions, culture, morality, good manners' was given to 32 thousand families in Ankara, İstanbul, İzmir, Samsun, Adana, Şanlıurfa and Erzurum. and we offered training services in different fields.” said.

Stating that they saw that the trainings filled an important gap, Özer said: “We saw that our families benefited a lot from these trainings and they were very happy. For this reason, we are expanding this application, which we started in 7 pilot provinces, to all our provinces this summer. We welcome all our families to family schools. Just as we are with our students in formal education with summer schools, we will continue to be with our families with family schools.”

Minister Özer, who invited the parents to the school desks for the Family School Project, expressed his gratitude to the General Directorate of Lifelong Learning, provincial national education directorates, all teachers and everyone who contributed to the preparation and implementation of the project.
