Izmir Metropolitan Municipality continues to work against the possibility of fire in industrial zones. Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç Soyeropened the Aliağa Organized Industrial Zone (ALOSBİ) Fire Brigade Center. Aliağa Organized Industrial Zone Chairman of the Board Haluk Tezcan, Ödemiş Mayor Mehmet Eriş, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Secretary General Şükran Nurlu, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department Head İsmail Derse, Aliağa District Police Chief Mehmet Balıkçıoğlu, representatives of political parties and non-governmental organizations, council members, firefighters and industrialists attended.

Soyer: “It makes a great contribution to the Izmir economy”

Expressing that they have established contacts with organized industrial zones and signed protocols since they took office, the President Tunç SoyerHe stated that İzmir is the stronghold of industry. President Soyer said, “Since its establishment, Aliağa Organized Industrial Zone has made a great contribution to the economy of our country and İzmir with its employment, foreign trade, innovative products and industrial organizations that have a voice in the global market. There are 83 active factories in very different business lines in Aliağa OSB. With 28 factories under construction, the total number of factories here will reach 111. The surrounding of such a large and powerful industrial zone is forest land. Unfortunately, with the impact of the climate crisis, we see that the frequency of forest fires increases significantly every year. The cooperation we established to protect Aliağa OIZ against the risk of fire bore fruit and the Fire Brigade Service Building, which we opened, was born. Thanks to this center, our firefighters will have the opportunity to intervene in a possible fire without losing any time. Due to its location, our fire station plays a critical role in traffic accidents that may occur on the Çanakkale highway and connection roads. This valuable facility will both minimize the loss of life and property and protect our nature.”

“We extinguished 94,5 percent in the initial state”

President Soyer, by explaining their efforts to prevent forest fires in advance, said, “As a result of the new practices we have implemented within the scope of combating forest fires, 13 thousand 235, ie 12 percent, of the 507 thousand 94,5 fires that have occurred in Izmir in the past year have been started. We managed to extinguish it on the go. I am sure that this center will make a very important contribution to our fight against forest fires. Aliağa OSB Fire Department is a work of solidarity that we need more than anything in today's world. It is the joint success of our local government and the industrialists of İzmir.”

Haluk Tezcan, Chairman of the Aliağa Organized Industrial Zone, said, “Our president has put an important issue on his agenda and offered us this opportunity. We are proud to bring a work that we are proud of to our region.”

The opening of the Atatürk bust was also held in the program. Mayor Soyer and the accompanying delegation toured the fire station and watched the fire drill.

allocated to the municipality

The construction of the fire station built on a 2 square meter closed area and 88 square meter open area, and all the construction works were carried out by Aliağa OSB. The center was allocated to the municipality to be operated. In the first phase, 5 fire and rescue personnel, 960 modern fire vehicles and equipment with technological infrastructure will serve. Fire protection training will be given to the employees at ALOSBİ factories, and "fighting, rescue, safety and first aid" training will be given to the emergency teams.
