Transport and Infrastructure Minister Adil Karaismailoğlu announced that the record was renewed with 1034 aircraft traffic on the first day of Eid al-Adha at Antalya Airport, which is located in the tourism region.

Adil Karaismailoğlu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, stated in his written statement that with the 9-day Eid al-Adha holiday, the mobility at the airports has increased. Pointing out that Antalya Airport, which is located in the tourism center, has a high tourist density, Karaismailoğlu said, “We broke a record with 2 aircraft traffic at Antalya Airport on July 1026nd. We renewed this record on the first day of Eid al-Adha. On 9 July, a total of 121 aircraft traffic was served, 913 on the domestic line and 1034 on the international line. Thus, the record was broken by reaching the highest figure after the pandemic. On the same day, passenger traffic reached a total of 19 thousand 66, 163 thousand 84 on the domestic line and 182 thousand 150 on the international line.

Reminding that Antalya Airport has filled its capacity and they made the tender for capacity increase in 2021 to meet the increasing passenger demand, Karaismailoğlu continued his statement as follows;

“The records show how right the capacity increase was. It is very important to provide better service and create a positive first impression at Antalya Airport, which is one of the first places to step into the tourism center. In addition, this tender also showed the confidence in the economy. The project includes expansion of domestic and 2nd international terminals, construction of 3rd international terminal and general aviation terminal, VIP terminal and State Guesthouse, investments to increase apron capacity, construction of new technical block, tower and transmitter station, fuel storage and distribution facility. includes investments such as construction. The construction period of the facilities will be 36 months and the operational period will be 25 years.”

PROJECTS FOR RENEWAL ARE VITAL IMPORTANT

Reminding that the contractor who took the job as a result of the tender guaranteed a rent payment of 8 billion 55 million euros, Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu stated that the company started an investment of 765 million euros and will complete it by 2025. Karaismailoğlu pointed out that the 2 billion 138 million Euros of rental down payment was also paid, Karaismailoğlu said, “It is vital to develop projects to renew the infrastructure of the airports in the tourism centers in the Turkey of the future. Antalya, which has a great share in making our country a global brand in tourism, maintains this claim only if it turns to projects based on the tourism-oriented development approach," he said.
