'Electric scooter', which started to be used in many parts of Turkey, especially in Istanbul in 2019, started to become widespread day by day. The biggest problem of electric scooters used by millions of people is the lack of parking in the city and irregular parking. Upon the increase in the complaints, IMM took action for the electric scooters parked randomly. Micromobility parking areas work has been started in order to reduce the parking problems experienced in the scooter system, to eliminate the problems and to bring regulations.
After analyzing the data obtained from the companies operating in Istanbul in order to determine the parking areas, the most intensive use Kadıköy district was selected as a pilot region. As a result of the studies carried out Kadıköy4 streets, where scooter use is concentrated, were determined as pilot parking areas. In line with this planning, a total of 17 parking areas will be built, 2 on Bağdat Street, 7 on Tütüncü Mehmet Efendi Street, 26 on Ethem Efendi Street and 52 on Fahrettin Kerim Gökay Street. The project will be developed and implemented in districts such as Beşiktaş, Fatin, Şişli, Üsküdar, Bakırköy and Beyoğlu, where electric scooters are most commonly used.
