ANKAPARK Process Explained to National Media Representatives

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş talked to the representatives of press organizations, news directors and columnists about the ANKAPARK process, which was transferred to ABB after 3 years of legal struggle. Yavaş made a presentation about the purchasing process of the theme park and answered all the questions of the journalists. Yavaş said, “Our priority is not to invest the citizens' money in such fictitious investments. Our aim is to ensure that this place does not disappear and open it to the public free of charge," he said.

After ANKAPARK, whose construction cost 801 million dollars, was transferred to Ankara Metropolitan Municipality by a court decision after a 3-year legal struggle, the doors of the theme park were opened to representatives and news directors of media organizations in Ankara this time.

After the bus tour in the theme park area, ABB President Mansur Yavaş made a presentation to the journalists about the purchasing process of ANKAPARK. Describing the procurement process with its history and documents, Yavaş answered the questions of members of the press after the presentation.

SLOW: “WE ALREADY BEGGED”

During his presentation, Mansur Yavaş, who explained the legal struggle in the procurement process of ANKAPARK, the decisions and objections, together with the dates, stated that the public damage would increase every day that ANKAPARK was not delivered to ABB due to the lack of employees and security weakness, and stated that they wanted the area to be handed over and applied to the court. .

Noting that after the operator declared bankruptcy, the thefts increased in the area and the park was worn out day by day, Mayor Yavaş noted that they applied to the court many times, “All of them were rejected. We almost begged him that this place is rotting," he said. Yavaş stated that he presented the information notes about ANKAPARK on September 1, 2020 and April 5, 2021 to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, “We also meet with the Minister of Environment from time to time. In this regard, I conveyed the notes of our Legal Counsel to him twice," he said.

Indicating that the future of ANKAPARK will be decided together with the people of Ankara, Yavaş noted that they will initiate a process for the determination of those responsible and the compensation case after the damage assessment studies.

“OUR PURPOSE IS TO ENSURE THAT THIS PLACE DOESN'T DESTROY”

Emphasizing that their priority is the wishes of the people of Ankara in his statements, Mayor Yavaş said, “I know that this is the property of the people of Ankara. I would never want this place damaged. No manager wants this place to be damaged. It is necessary to question: This place was built by selling water to the poor for 1,5-2 dollars a ton. In other words, water was sold for 30 liras per ton. Public transportation served for 1 dollar for many years. The money obtained from there was buried here. There are still open sewers in Ankara. You should have seen the state of the 800 water tanks when we arrived. We change them. We finish the open-flowing channels. We still continue. These are our priority. Our priority is not to invest the citizens' money in such fictitious investments. However, I say it again, our aim is to ensure that this place does not disappear and open it to the public free of charge.

President Yavaş answered the questions about re-opening ANKAPARK or removing and dismantling the toys, "detection studies are continuing".
