At the press conference held today by the Ministry of Transport of China, information was given about the economic functioning of China's transportation in the first half of the year. Chinese Ministry of Transport SözcüSü Shu Chi stated that with the implementation of various measures in the first half of the year, the main indicators of China's transportation gradually recovered after a short-term fluctuation in April. Shu said investment remained high, and fixed capital investments in transportation rose 6,7 percent year on year to 1,6 trillion yuan ($249 billion) in the first half of the year.

Stating that the freight volume in particular remained at the same level as in the same period of the previous year and the container volume of the ports for foreign trade continued to grow, Shu continued his explanations as follows: Transport investment and express business volume generally returned to the normal development process. The recovery in cargo volume also continues, as the commercial freight volume completed in the first half of the year reached 24,27 billion tons.

Shu Chi noted that the volume of road freight reached 4,6 billion tons with a decrease of 17,7 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, while the transportation by river and sea completed 4,5 billion tons with an annual increase of 4,1 percent. Expressing that the number of passengers has also decreased, Shu Chi pointed out that the number of passengers was 37,2 billion, with an annual decrease of 2,76 percent in the first half of the year due to the new round of epidemics.

Reminding that port container output continues to grow, Shu said that in the first half of the year, container volume reached 3 million TEU with an annual increase of 140 percent, while foreign trade container volume exceeded 6,1 million TEU with an annual increase of 85 percent.
