70th Anniversary of Kazakh Turks' Arrival in Turkey Celebrated

The 70th anniversary of the arrival of Kazakh Turks, who had to migrate from their country due to Chinese persecution, was celebrated with a ceremony held in Bağcılar Municipality Kirazlıbent Nature Park and Recreation Area. The guests, who had a beautiful day with the concert of the Atameken music group from Kazakhstan, also commemorated those who lost their lives during the migration.

A program was organized by Kazakkent Altay Association on the 70th anniversary of the arrival of Kazakhs who were forced to migrate from their hometowns to Turkey due to the oppression and persecution of China. 1500 Kazakh Turks came together at the event held in Bağcılar Municipality Kirazlıbent Nature Park and Recreation Area.

They added richness and harmony to our district.

On this meaningful day, Mayor of Bağcılar Abdullah Özdemir did not leave Kazakh citizens alone. Stating that the migration process started with the division of the Ottoman state, Özdemir said, “There was great suffering both in the Balkans and in our ancestral homeland. Many refugees died in the Himalayan Mountains. During the Adnan Menderes period, 2200 people were accepted to Turkey as settled immigrants. 120 families from these immigrants made our district their home. Our valuable Kazakh citizens, with their cultures, harmonious and personable personalities, have added significant richness and harmony to our district. They have become one of the most important elements of the cultural mosaic of our vineyards.”

Those who lost their lives were also commemorated

Sohbet The participants, who ate their local dishes, also had fun with the concert given by Atameken music group. In the continuation of the program, those who lost their lives during the migration were commemorated with prayers. To the event; Alim Bayel, Consul General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Istanbul, and representatives of Kazakh associations also attended.
