European success came from Young Nationals in chess. Turkey is returning home with 2022 medals, 2 silver as a team, 3 gold and 6 bronze individually, from the 18 European Junior Teams Chess Championship. In the European Junior Teams Chess Championship, Turkey ranked second in girls aged 12, while in general, aged 1 took the second place by sharing the championship. In individual terms, Demhat Zerey became the third table top, Jülide Aysu Mutlu became the second table winner, Mert Can Seviğ became the third table winner, and Berk Madsman became the fifth table winner.

The 12 European Junior Teams Chess Championship, in which Turkey competed with 2022 athletes, was held in Thessaloniki, Greece, between 12-18 July 2022. In the tournament, which was organized as a team tournament in 18 categories as 12 year old/girls and 4 year old open/girls, a total of 53 country teams competed.

Turkish Chess Federation (TSF) President Gülkız Tulay, who said, "We carry the success graph of our young chess nationals in the European and World championships every year," said, "After the pandemic, our young nationals are running from success to success in every tournament. We came back from the 2022 European Schools Chess Championship with the national championship and 16 medals. We succeeded in winning 2022 medals at the 6 European Junior Teams Chess Championship. I congratulate all our athletes who represent our nationals and our country who ranked in the European Junior Teams. I would also like to express my gratitude to Bursa Metropolitan Belediyespor Club and Apaydın Chess and Sports Club Association, who have been entitled to represent our Federation and our country as champions in our 2022 Turkey Junior and Junior Team Chess Championship.”

Jülide Aysu Mutlu, winner of the 12nd table in the 2 Years Girls category, mentioned that the matches were difficult and tiring and shared her feelings as follows: “Especially the last match was very critical. I had little chance of ranking because I started at the back in the ranking. Being in the national team is a great feeling. It is invaluable to get a degree, especially with the national jersey. I believe that with perseverance, ambition and discipline, anything can be achieved.”

Mert Can Seviğ, winner of the 12 Age General Category 3rd Table, using the phrase “It is proud to compete for the national team”, said, “I prepared for the opponents with my knowledge and the support of our coaches. I wanted the degree. Wanting enough and working tirelessly always brings success.”
