Speaking after the festival, MAC Instructor Leyla Zerger stated that doing yoga has scientifically proven benefits for physical and mental health and said, “Yoga, which increases physical flexibility, balance and strength, contributes positively to heart health and helps reduce chronic pain. Yoga, which has a positive effect on mental health by reducing stress and anxiety, also regulates breathing, improves sleep quality and gives healthy eating habits.

Yoga, which is a form of exercise focused on breathing to increase physical and mental well-being, considers the mind and body as a whole. Yoga, which is considered a form of meditation as well as being a breathing practice that relaxes the person, also exercises the body physically with its various poses.

It reduces the risk of high blood pressure

Stating that many people add yoga to their exercise routine today to increase flexibility and balance, Zerger said that many scientific studies have proven that certain yoga poses are applied for a period of 15-30 minutes every day, making a big difference in the flexibility and balance of the body. "It is possible to say that yoga reduces the risk of high blood pressure, which is the main cause of heart diseases," said Zerger.

Alternative solution to chronic pain

Pointing out that there are many scientific studies showing that yoga also reduces many types of chronic pain caused by injuries or arthritis, Zerger said, “For example, in a study conducted in 2005, it was observed that participants with arthritis in their knees increased their physical functions and their pain decreased by doing yoga. "In another study, it was revealed that when participants with carpal tunnel syndrome in the wrist did yoga for eight weeks, their pain decreased and their grip strength increased."

Increases breathing capacity

Emphasizing that yoga is a form of breathing-oriented exercise, Leyla Zerger said, “A special breathing technique applied by yogis, also called Pranayama, aims to control breathing. Many types of yoga also include this type of breathing exercises. Thus, when people do yoga, they increase their breathing capacity and learn breathing techniques. "Improved breathing also provides many benefits, such as endurance, high performance and healthy lungs."
