In 1974, he played the character of Damat Ferit in the movie Hababam Class, adapted from the work of Rıfat Ilgaz, directed by Ertem Eğilmez. He also achieved great success in every movie he played with Gülşen Bubikoğlu. He achieved great success with Akan's romantic-comedy film called Ah Where in 1975, in which he played with Bubikoğlu.

He married Yasemin Erkut in 1986. Ooyuncu's son, Barış Zeki Üregül, was born from Erkut. Two years later, in 1988, their twin children, Yaşar Özgür Üregül and Özlem Üregül, were born. The actress divorced in 1989, four years after her marriage. In 1990, they started to live together with Acun Günay.
