The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, noting that the ports of Kocaeli, which draw attention with its fast and easy transportation, have become a center in maritime transport, announced that the Körfez Logistics Workshop will be held in Kocaeli, the capital of the industry, on 30 June with the participation of the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu.

In the written statement made by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, it was stated that Kocaeli is the capital of the industry. Emphasizing that Kocaeli, where the railway and the highway meet, has become an important center in maritime transport, the statement said, to Kocaeli Bay; It was noted that transportation via Osmangazi Bridge, Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, Northern Marmara Highway and Istanbul-İzmir Highway is fast and easy, thus saving fuel and time.

In the statement underlining that the integration of railway, highway and seaway and the gulf ports play an important role in the increase in exports, it was noted that the added values ​​produced are delivered to the world. In the statement, “Kocaeli; It is one of the leading provinces of our country in terms of manufacturing industry. In Kocaeli, which has 14 organized industrial zones, the chemical, automotive and iron and steel sectors stand out. There are 35 port facilities within the administrative area of ​​Kocaeli Port Authority.

MOST CARGO HANDLING WAS AT KOCAELİ PORTS IN MAY

In the statement, it was stated that the mobility in Kocaeli ports increased due to the development in foreign trade, and said, “In May, the most cargo handling took place in the administrative borders of Kocaeli Port Authority. A total of 7 million 382 thousand tons of cargo was handled at the port facilities operating within the administrative borders of Kocaeli Port Authority. 6 million 90 thousand tons of the handled cargoes were foreign trade cargoes, 1 million 234 thousand tons of cabotage cargoes and 57 thousand 946 tons of transit cargoes. In the same month, 176 thousand 155 TEU containers were handled at Kocaeli Port Authority. In the January-May period, 3,4 million 35 thousand tons of cargo was handled with an increase of 221 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, and 13,8 thousand 997 TEU containers were handled with an increase of 697 percent.

EXPERT PERSONS IN THE FIELD WILL MEET WITH THE LOGISTICS WORKSHOP ON 30 JUNE

In the statement that the Körfez Logistics Workshop will be held on June 30, it was announced that the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu will attend the opening of the workshop. The statement said, “The workshop will be attended by representatives of the public and private sectors, representatives of Non-Governmental Organizations, academics and experts in their fields. The 2053 Transport and Logistics Master Plan will also guide the workshop. The workshop will focus on reducing costs in logistics, green energy, reducing emissions from transportation, transportation investments, logistics centers, integration between transportation modes, autonomous systems, new targets and policies, and legal regulations.
