OPPO has partnered with Ericsson and Qualcomm Technologies to deliver the 12G enterprise network slicing solution to devices running Android 5.

OPPO announced that it has successfully tested a 5G enterprise network slicing solution in collaboration with Ericsson and Qualcomm Technologies. The solution, which is designed to be implemented by network operators around the world, draws attention as an important step in implementing the use of 5G corporate network slicing.

Xia Yang, Senior Director of OPPO Carrier Products Division, said, “5G enterprise network slicing is the key to realizing differentiated applications with 5G. Driven by the company's mission of 'Technology for Humanity, Good for Earth', OPPO will leverage innovations and strong collaborations across the technology ecosystem to accelerate the commercialization of 5G enterprise network slicing technology. “Together with our partners, we will ensure that OPPO users are the first to enjoy a customized 5G connectivity experience.”

Monica Zethzon, Head of Packet Core Solutions, Ericsson, said: “5G network slicing offers a powerful solution for enterprises to better meet their network security, reliability and resilience needs. Based on Ericsson's dual-mode 5G Core and 5G RAN Slicing capabilities in collaboration with OPPO and Qualcomm, the solution will support cloud service providers to deliver more customized 5G services to enterprises.”

“The introduction of commercial 5G enterprise network slicing marks a significant step forward in delivering on the promises made with 5G SA,” said Sunil Patil, vice president of product management at Qualcomm Technologies. “Commercialization of this technology will provide 5G networking tools that will allow 5G capabilities to be customized according to the needs of applications.”

By dividing a physical network into multiple end-to-end virtual networks, 5G network slicing offers independent and customized network resources suitable for specific needs and usage scenarios, thus enabling more 5G resources to be used to provide more flexible and effective 5G networks. From now on, companies will accelerate their work to finalize details about the ecosystem, device, and network for commercial use.

OPPO has been conducting R&D studies on 5G network slicing with network operators and other partners for several years. Previously, OPPO collaborated with Vodafone and Ericsson to set up the first 5G SA network at Coventry University in the UK, where it showcased its first 5G SA network slicing technology. OPPO has also worked with China Mobile to test 5G terminal slicing. OPPO will continue to work with partner global operators to promote the rollout of 5G enterprise network slicing technology, which will deliver more secure and flexible 5G communications to enterprise partners and end users.
