Walnut Farming Seminar Held from A to Z

The Walnut Producers Association (CÜD) organized the 'Walnut Production Seminar from A to Z', with the participation of both the members of the association and the sectoral stakeholders related to walnut production. The training seminar was given by Spanish Agronomist Federico López. Acting with the mission of making Turkey self-sufficient in walnuts, increasing the number of indoor gardens and increasing productivity, CÜD provided nearly 100 walnut producers with access to information on critical success factors in walnuts, with the training given by Lopez.

The Walnut Producers Association (CÜD), which set out with the slogan of "Turkey's Production is Native to Walnuts, the Delicious Walnut" in 2020, organized a training seminar with the participation of the members of the association and the stakeholders in the sector. The 'A to Z Walnut Production Seminar' given by Spanish Agricultural Engineer Federico López Larrinaga was held on 4 June 2022 at Sakarya Yücesan Farm. To the event; Gennova, Topraq, Valagro and Ekosol companies became sponsors. The seminar was broadcast live on the walnut.org.tr website.

Nearly 100 professional walnut producers from Adıyaman to Edirne came together at the training seminar held by the Walnut Producers Association. The 'Walnut Production Seminar from A to Z', prepared by Federico López Larrinaga, lasted for about six hours, both for producers who have realized walnut production as a verb, and for investors considering entering this sector.

In the event, which showed great interest by the members of the Walnut Producers Association; Information on walnut rootstock and species, pruning, irrigation, plant health, feeding and fertilization was given. Federico López Larrinaga also shared detailed information on yield-enhancing technical agricultural practices in walnut production at the seminar. López Larrinaga, who stated that he was pleased that the seminar saw such an intense participation, also answered the questions of the producers about their gardens.

TRAININGS FOR WALNUT GROWING WILL CONTINUE

Omer Ergüder, Co-Chair of the Walnut Producers Association, who made the opening and closing speeches of the 'Walnut Producing Seminar from A to Z', thanked all the participants for the intense interest shown in the seminar. Ergüder said, “We had discussions with Federico López Larrinaga about the Walnut Producers Association to undertake the training consultancy. In addition to the topics covered in the seminar, we are in talks with Larrinaga, who has very important knowledge on walnut harvesting and processing, to organize new seminars specific to these subjects. We plan to continue the seminar at least quarterly.”
