When will the Ankara İzmir YHT Project be completed?

When Ankara Izmir YHT Project Will Be Completed
When will Ankara İzmir YHT Project be completed?

At the KIT Commission meeting, where the balance sheet and accounts of TCDD were discussed, it was asked when the Ankara-İzmir YHT Project would be completed. While TCDD General Manager Metin Akbaş refrained from revealing the date when the project would be completed, he only said that 52.7 percent of it was completed.

CHP İzmir Deputy Atila Sertel drew attention to the Ankara-İzmir YHT Project and said, "If it will be used on the İzmir-Ankara train line, it will be a great contribution for us, and it will be finished as soon as possible."

It has not been announced when the Ankara-İzmir High Speed Train (YHT) Project, the foundation of which was laid in 2012 and the completion date was announced as 2019 and then 2020, will be completed. It turned out that TCDD was not aware of the 2.45 billion Euro loan, which was announced to be obtained from the UK in March and announced as the “record financing for the Ankara-İzmir YHT Project”.

AKBAS: I DON'T KNOW

Responding to CHP İzmir Deputy and SEE Commission member Atila Sertel, who asked about the 2.45 billion Euro loan that was announced to be used for the Ankara-İzmir YHT project during the meetings held in England in March by the Minister of Treasury and Finance, TCDD General Manager Akbaş said that he did not have any information about the loan.

Akbaş said, “Credit is not a subject under the responsibility of TCDD, it is the subject of the General Directorate of Infrastructure Investments. Since there is no contract under our responsibility, I have no information. İzmir high-speed train is currently at the level of 52.7% in terms of infrastructure works related to the part made by TCDD. We keep our lines under control with our measurement tools.”

SERTEL: WE WOULD LIKE

Recalling that during the meetings held in England in March, Treasury and Finance Minister Nurettin Nebati made a loan agreement of 6 billion Euros to be used in railway projects and it was announced that 2.45 billion Euros of this would be used in the Ankara-İzmir YHT project, CHP İzmir Deputy Atila Sertel said:

“If this loan is found, if it is to be used on the İzmir-Ankara train line, it will be a great contribution for us, and it will end as soon as possible. In other words, if such a loan has entered the Institution and will be spent on that line, we will be pleased. Because Mr. Minister Nebati made a statement on this matter, but not to me, to whom? He did it to Anadolu Agency, when? He did it on March 22, 2022. “The 2,45 billion Euro loan provided by the UK for the Ankara-İzmir High Speed Train Project, which will reduce the travel time between Ankara and İzmir to three and a half hours, will accelerate the work.” The general manager says 'I have no information', then the Minister made an early statement. We want the Izmir-Ankara line to be completed as soon as possible. If there is such a loan and the institution, Anadolu Agency, has announced that it will be spent on this line and we have read it, I am asking about it. 'In the high-speed train project, the 2,45 billion euro loan from England will be used on the Ankara İzmir high line.' He says, Ministers say it. Now, I think the ministers probably tell the truth, so they don't lie."
