The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure announced that the 2nd Turkey Maritime Summit will be held in Istanbul between 1-2 July. In the statement, which stated that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will attend the opening of the summit, it was emphasized that all aspects of the maritime industry will be discussed.
The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure made a written statement regarding the 1nd Turkey Maritime Summit to be held in Istanbul on 2-2 July. In the statement, which noted that the recent developments in the maritime sector in the world and in Turkey in particular, and especially after the pandemic, will be evaluated at the Summit, which will be held internationally, the current capacity of our country, which is a crossroads in terms of logistics, in maritime transport and its plans for the future will be discussed. Within the scope of the summit; Turkish Maritime Industry Vision: Development of Turkish Fleet, Ship Person Employment: Effects of MLC Agreement; In the focus of logistics, four main sessions will be held, namely Marine Structures Infrastructure and Geopolitical Developments and Blue Homeland.
In the statement, it was noted that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu will convey the views of senior executives of public institutions and organizations, non-governmental organizations, Presidents of chambers and associations, and private sector representatives at the Summit. Emphasizing that the summit will make a significant contribution to Turkish Maritime, the statement said, "Foreign speakers, who have a worldwide importance in the maritime sector, will share their evaluations on the developments in the world agenda and the importance of Turkey for the world maritime."
INTERNATIONAL ACTIVITY WILL BE INCREASED IN THE SHIPPING SECTOR
The statement underlined that the international activity in the maritime sector will be increased and that it will have a greater say, continued as follows;
“World maritime will be directed more effectively by our country. Important road maps will be determined for a strong, innovative, safe, environmentally friendly and cost-effective Turkish maritime merchant fleet. The financial sector and the maritime sector will work in more effective cooperation and act jointly in the steps to be taken for the future. In this way, significant direct and indirect gains will be achieved in our economy. With the increase in the quality and quantity of Turkish ship's people, who make an important contribution to world maritime, the problems experienced by these ship people will be resolved. Plans will be made within the framework of the logistics master plan for the infrastructure and superstructure investments related to sea structures such as ports, shipyards, marinas, fishermen's shelters, offshore platforms and their connections to the interior regions. By emphasizing our determination in all kinds of economic, commercial, military and political rights and interests in our Blue Homeland, short, medium and long-term plans will be carried out in line with the strategies we have determined.”
