Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) has completed the road and intersection project of Haramidere Ambarlı Street-Liman Yolu Street intersection, which will largely relieve the traffic congestion between Beylikdüzü and Avcılar.

IMM President Ekrem İmamoğluIn his speech at the ceremony held for the opening, he said that Istanbul is a city that spans two continents and experiences intense urban activity.

Referring to when they are faced with a chronic, long-standing traffic problem, İmamoğlu said, “We desire a peaceful city. In this sense, since the day we took office, we have taken action, completed and continue our work in order to ease the traffic.” said." said.

In this context, İmamoğlu gave examples of the intersection works they carried out in regions such as Başakşehir, Silivri Selimpaşa, Tuzla and Bostancı and said, “We do not only finish our work with roads, intersections and overpasses in order to make every work we do permanent. Likewise, infrastructure services such as waste water and rain water, which are in that environment, in the area of influence, and with a deeper understanding of the problems, are the most tiring and perhaps the most disturbing works during construction activities, but without neglecting them, they are performed flawlessly. We also make a special effort to ensure that it is made available to our citizens.” he said.

Emphasizing that their goal is to ease the traffic in Istanbul, İmamoğlu underlined that they carry out a study focused on urban mobility with all the stakeholders of the issue.

Ekrem İmamoğluHe stated that Esenyurt, Beylikdüzü and Avcılar, which are districts on the west side of the city, have a population of approximately 3,5 million, and that the works on the Esenyurt-Mahmutbey metro line, which is vital for the region, are continuing.

Stating that the line, which is the highest cost project of Istanbul, passes through the districts of Küçükçekmece, Başakşehir, Avcılar and Esenyurt, İmamoğlu continued as follows:

“Of course we didn't leave him there. We bring it back to Avcılar from Esenyurt Square and connect it with the Beylikdüzü-Sefaköy line from the stop located at the lower part of the parcels on the D100 Highway.

İmamoğlu criticizes the fact that the ministry's approval for the İncirli-Sefaköy-Beylikdüzü metro line, which has been spoken for nearly 20 years for the region, has not yet come out, and said, "I cannot solve in my mind the meaninglessness of keeping this line on the shelf in the ministry, withholding a signature, and preventing the acceleration of the journey. So I'm not in a position to even comment on this mental eclipse. What can i say? I commend it to God. But let me tell you, we have a maximum of one year left for our referral to Allah. After that, our nation will give the necessary answer.” made its assessment.

I promise before all of you

IMM President Ekrem İmamoğluExpressing that there were tragic stories they lived with the previous IMM administration during the district mayor period, he said:

“I promise before all of you. I will never, ever leave such a memory to 39 district municipalities, whether they are the mayors of the political party I am a member of or not. What kind of moment? 'He prevented us, didn't make us do it, didn't make us do it.' On the contrary, let's underline that we are still trying to prevent our work by sometimes using the power of other institutions and organizations of our state through district municipalities. But all these difficulties lead to a single conclusion. It is the journey of serving our city, districts and nation with more enthusiasm, courage and determination. I can say that nothing else is gaining us.”

Istanbul has been betrayed

Sharing information about the road and intersection work they opened, İmamoğlu stated that there will be relief in Esenyurt and Beylikdüzü traffic once the project becomes operational. Emphasizing that bad practices were made against the city in the past, İmamoğlu gave the following examples:

“Lessons must be learned from bad practices. Ambarlı Port is one of the largest container ports in Turkey and perhaps even in Europe. We know that there was no such urbanization in the rear area when the port was being built. I remember it like it was yesterday. I remember that in the large-scale environmental plans made at the beginning of the 2000s and the end of the 90s, even the connection of this port by train was studied. I saw with my own eyes the large-scale plans for a logistics center of this port. Then I'm a mayor, I'm not a politician. As a business person, I listened to these in a presentation. A very bad zoning and city planning in Esenyurt, which completely squandered all these and created a great barrier to the whole process like a gag, has unfortunately imprisoned this region within itself. Unfortunately, a great betrayal has been made both to this region, to port transportation and to Istanbul, by constructing huge 40- and 50-floor buildings on the roads and traces of the industrial formations there, and by issuing those zoning permits.”

Istanbul's recovery means Turkey's recovery

İmamoğlu said that the population of Esenyurt, along with the refugees, was on its way to 1,5 million in the process.

Stating that Esenyurt is almost as big as Beylikdüzü, İmamoğlu said:

“Beylikdüzü has a population of nearly 400 thousand. There is a comparison between bad urbanism and good urbanism, under the fact that two places with the same population about 20 years ago, one of them is going towards 1,5 million and the other is standing at 400 thousand. This wrong practice does not only give trouble to its own residents. At the same time, it has an effect on Istanbul and the port. This is the main reason for the holistic view of cities and countries. In other words, if we don't look at the issue like that, we will put both our city, our country and our nation into big troubles with big surprises. In this context, we have lived and are living through an extraordinarily instructive period regarding planning, strategy, vital, urban processes, along with scientific and rational process management, that it will be good for this country, and how a single-person mind can lead to great disasters. We are at an important stage of stepping into a rational and scientific era. With these conscious efforts and rational strategies, I know well that the beautification of Istanbul means the beautification of Turkey. Istanbul's recovery means Turkey's recovery. Enrichment of Istanbul means enrichment of Turkey. In this context, we have a great responsibility.”

Before the opening, Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık and İBB Deputy Secretary General Gürkan Alpay also gave speeches and gave detailed information about the project.

After the speeches, the road and intersection that will ease the traffic in the region were put into service by İmamoğlu, CHP deputies Sibel Özdemir, Turan Aydoğan, Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık, Avcılar Mayor Turan Hançerli and Büyükçekmece Mayor Hasan Akgün.

Within the scope of the project, a 350-meter-long underpass, a 188-meter post-tension bridge connecting Ambarlı Street to Liman Street, a 600-meter-long rainwater culvert connecting to Haramidere, a 2-span pedestrian overpass on Liman Street, a 2.2-kilometer-long bridge on Sarızeybek Street. divided road, a 530 meter long divided road connecting Ambarlı Street to Liman Street was built.
