“Our Common Home with Environment and Children's Academy, World Children's Story Set” was introduced in the program held in the Başkent Millet Bahçesi with the participation of Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer and Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum. 6

Speaking at the introductory program, Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer stated that extensive studies have been carried out with the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change for the last ten months on raising children with environmental awareness and spreading this culture in all schools, and thanked the Minister Institution for their support.

Minister Özer reminded that they took the first step towards raising children with environmental awareness by updating the curriculum of the environmental education elective course in the 7th and 8th grades, and said, “We changed our course as 'environmental education and climate change course' and put it as an elective course in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades. In our next step, we organized trainings for all our teachers about increasing awareness of environmental awareness, zero waste culture, and the spread of this culture in our schools, and we saw that our teachers are much more willing to receive such training. Although it is not compulsory, almost all of our teachers actively participated in these trainings.” said.

Referring to the projects carried out under the auspices of President Erdoğan's wife, Emine Erdoğan, Özer said: “We set out with the '1.000 Eco-Friendly Schools' project under the auspices of Esteemed Emine Erdoğan. Again, we are carrying out this project together with our Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change. By choosing 1.000 schools in basic education in all our districts in Turkey, we set out to create educational environments in which environmental culture is actively learned, from the SPP to the collection of rain water to the collection and reuse of waste, and I hope we will close this project today.”

Reminding that they started to build zero-waste recycling libraries in schools for the first time within the scope of the "No School Without Libraries" project under the auspices of Emine Erdoğan, Minister Özer said, "We have brought our students and schools to our schools with 325 zero-waste libraries, in which our children are actively participating in the processes they have made by recycling unused materials in the system. . Now, we are very happy to be a part of a project of our Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change about ensuring the continuity of environmental academy education. Hopefully, as the Ministry of National Education, we will provide all kinds of support for all our students and teachers to take an active part in the processes through these trainings within the Education Information Network and Teacher Information Network.” he said.

Expressing that they want students to grow up as strong individuals with culture, civilization and environmental awareness as well as their academic skills, Özer continued his words as follows: Let them grow up with the awareness that this world is entrusted to us. The places where this will be learned most widely are our schools because we have an education system with 19 million students and 1 million teachers. Therefore, the Ministry of National Education is the universe, not the sample of Turkey. All kinds of steps related to environmental awareness and waste that we take in this universe are breakthroughs that will have very lasting effects in the long run. Hopefully, our students will receive extensive training at the academy here, and the story sets prepared will make a very important contribution to raising this awareness of our students.”
