Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu stated that the Tarsus-Adana-Gaziantep Highway Adana Baklalı Köprülü Junction constitutes a part of the 213-kilometer highway project, and underlined that with the opening of the junction, both industrial development will accelerate and transportation will be facilitated.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu attended the opening of the Tarsus-Adana-Gaziantep Highway Adana Baklalı Bridge Junction; “We invest not only in Adana, but in all of our 81 provinces, build works of art, and work hard to provide the highest quality of service to our nation. We are working together to build a 'Great and Strong Turkey' with our transportation and communication investments across the country. In line with this goal; During our governments, we changed not only the face of our country, but also its future. For the future of Turkey, we have invested more than 1 trillion 600 billion liras as the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure alone. We invested 65% of this on highways. We have equipped our country with the world's most popular projects and technologies. We have realized the most popular projects of the world, such as the North Marmara Highway, Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, Osmangazi Bridge, Eurasia Tunnel, Ankara-Niğde Highway, 1915 Çanakkale Bridge, entirely with Turkish engineers and Turkish contractors, and put them into the service of Turkey and the world.

Noting that the investments will continue, Karaismailoğlu noted that thanks to the investments, a contribution of 1 billion dollars to production and 500 billion dollars to the national income has been provided. Noting that the length of the divided road has been increased to 28 thousand 664 kilometers, the length of the highway has been doubled to 3 thousand 633 kilometers, and the length of the tunnels has been increased by 13 times to over 650 kilometers, Karaismailoğlu reminded that there were only 2002 kilometers of tunnels before 50. Expressing that the 200-kilometer tunnel construction continues, Karaismailoğlu said, “By increasing our bridges and viaducts by 2,5 times, we saved time and fuel lost in traffic, and reduced carbon emissions in our region. For 20 years, we have been producing projects for the development of our country, creating employment and the growth of its economy, and we have been carrying out our services with the love of 'serving the truth'”.

Underlining that with the uninterrupted traffic flow that increases the operational performance of the roads, 10,5 billion hours of travel time is saved annually, Karaismailoğlu continued his speech as follows;

“We are achieving significant savings by shortening distances in new ways. We saved a total of 17 billion 238 million dollars annually, including 908 billion 636 million dollars from time, 16 million dollars from fuel oil, 22 million dollars from maintenance and 408 million dollars from environmental effects. In the last 20 years, the number of vehicles in our country has increased by 170% and vehicle mobility by 142%. On the other hand, we also achieved a very valuable success. Thanks to our on-site investments and our roads, our casualties in accidents have decreased by 81 percent. This means that we save 12 thousand lives every year.”

Pointing out that Adana has also received the share it deserves from the big investment moves, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Karaismailoğlu stated that 15 billion 517 million liras have been spent so far for Adana's transportation and communication investments. Karaismailoğlu said, "We have increased the length of the divided road in Adana to 431 kilometers," adding that the driving safety on the roads has also been increased. In Adana during the AK Party governments; Noting that 238 kilometers of single road construction and improvement was carried out, Karaismailoğlu said, “We have completed and put into service 2 bridges with a total length of 482 thousand 37 meters. The expenditure for highways in Adana reached 10 billion 450 million liras. The cost of 12 different highway projects in Adana reaches 5 billion 334 million liras.

Expressing that the total length of the project is 213 kilometers, of which 86,5 kilometers are located within the provincial borders of Adana, Karaismailoğlu said, “Tarsus-Adana-Gaziantep Highway Adana Baklalı Bridge Junction is an important part of the 213-kilometer highway project. Our junction, which we have inaugurated today, consists of 2 bridges with a length of 53 meters, a 485-meter-long revolving island and a 2-meter-long two-lane intersection arms.

Stating that Adana will be connected to Mersin, Osmaniye and Gaziantep by high-speed train, Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu said that the railway, whose current line distance is 361 kilometers, will shorten by 58 kilometers with the completion of the project, and the travel time will decrease to 2 hours and 15 minutes with the shortening of the line.

Underlining that the Baklalı Junction will significantly alleviate the vehicle traffic density of the region, Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu said, “Hacı Sabancı Organized Industrial Zone, which constitutes a large part of the trade potential of our Adana, is developing mainly in the eastern direction. Misis OSB Junction has become unable to meet the increasing density. For this reason, Baklalı Junction, which we have designed in the eastern part of the OIZ, will accelerate the development of Adana Hacı Sabancı OIZ. With the opening of Baklalı Junction, it will also facilitate access to Baklalı Village and other settlements.”
