Organized for the first time this year with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Edirne Altıneller Traditional Handicrafts Festival started.

51 intangible cultural heritage carriers, masters of handicrafts from all over Turkey, who are experts in their fields, met with art lovers in Edirne.

Speaking at the opening program of the festival, Research and Education General Manager Okan İbiş stated that they aim to contribute to the preservation of cultural diversity and the development of intercultural dialogue by bringing artists, people and local governments together with such events.

Noting that the festivals provide an important environment for sharing and information exchange for handicraft masters, Ibiş emphasized that the master-apprentice relationship plays a key role in keeping our culture alive.

After the speeches, the members of the protocol cut the opening ribbon of Edirne Altıneller Traditional Handicrafts Festival. Afterwards, he visited the stands and got information from the artists about the branches of art they performed.

The festival, which hosts many events from folk dance performances to concerts, workshops and talks, will continue until 19 June.
