Airports in Istanbul are once again among the most preferred in the world. Approximately 5 million people traveled from the airports in Istanbul in 33 months. Compared to the same period of the previous year, the number of passengers increased by approximately 50 percent. The number of passengers using the airports in Istanbul increased by 17 million compared to the same period last year.
In the first 5 months of this year, a total of 11 million 140 thousand 385 passengers traveled from Istanbul airports, 21 million 435 thousand 624 on domestic lines and 32 million 576 thousand 9 on international lines.
5 million passengers used Istanbul Airport in the first 21 months
The figures for the two airports were also announced separately. More than 5 million passengers used Istanbul Airport in the first 21 months. More than 5 million of these passengers traveled from domestic routes and 16 million from international routes.
In the same period of 2021, the number of passengers using Istanbul Airport was over 9 million. Compared to the previous year, the increase in the number of passengers exceeded 12 million, and the rate of increase in passengers was calculated as 130 percent.
The number of travelers in Sabiha Gökçen has exceeded 11 million in total.
At Sabiha Gökçen Airport, the number of passengers in the January-May period of this year exceeded 11 million in total, most of these passengers used domestic flights.
In the first 5 months of this year at Sabiha Gökçen Airport, domestic passengers increased by 21 percent and international passengers increased by 169%.
Parallel to the number of passengers, the number of flights also increased. Compared to last year, an increase of 90 was recorded.
