A passenger train with 75 passengers and a locomotive collided head-on in Vila-seca, Tarragona Province, Spain. After the accident, many first aid and police teams arrived at the scene, and the injured were taken to the hospital. The regional government of Northeast Catalonia stated that 5 of the injured were in serious condition, while Spain's ADIF Railway Infrastructure Company reported that the freight train engine had a brake problem.
Transportation was disrupted following the crash, including the R15, R16 and R17 lines from Tarragona to Vila-seca and Cambrils to Reus.
