The rafting on Büyükçay Creek, which flows through Hakkari's Yüksekova district center and was once haunted by bad smells and garbage, was the scene of colorful scenes.

A rafting event was organized by the Yüksekova Youth and Sports District Directorate on the occasion of the 19 May Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day on Büyükçay Creek.

The rafting event, which was held on Büyükçay Creek, which once had a bad smell and gained a brand new look due to the change-transformation works carried out by the state, was watched with intense interest of the citizens.

The rafting activity, which started next to Atatürk Secondary School in Yeşildere District, ended next to 1. Yıl Secondary School, which is about 50 kilometer away.

Hakkari Governor İdris Akbıyık, who gave the start of the rafting event, said, “I would like to thank the Presidency of the Turkish Rafting Federation for the event organized in Hakkari and Yüksekova. On the occasion of May 19, Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day, we made our people experience the excitement of rafting. It no longer carries the old image. There is peace, happiness, health, sports and education here. Just like in all provinces, it is now also available in Yüksekova. As a developing and growing city, Yüksekova will now be remembered only for its services. On behalf of Hakkari and Yüksekova, I would like to thank everyone, especially our President, for their greatest contribution and support.”

Hakkari Governor İdris Akbıyık, Yüksekova District Governor Ömer Çimşit, District Police Chief Murat Güneş, Turkish Rafting Federation President Fikret Assist, Hakkari Youth and Sports Provincial Director Emin Yıldırım, Yüksekova Youth and Sports Manager Sami Keskin, NGO representatives, headmen , students, athletes and many citizens attended.
