Two Turkish Artists Selva Özelli and Günsu Saraçoğlu are taking part in Stockholm +50, which is organized to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first environmental conference of the United Nations, with their solo virtual exhibitions.

An international environmental meeting will be held in Stockholm, Sweden, on 2-3 June 2022 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Stockholm Conference. Our artists will convey their messages through art and represent our country on the international platform.

Two Turkish artists Selva Özelli and Günsu Saraçoğlu are participating in Stockholm 50 with their virtual exhibitions as joint events:

Artist Selva Özelli's virtual exhibition “Reef Dwellers” celebrates the role of the oceans in our daily lives. Artist exhibition; “It is taking action to protect reefs, which cover just 0,1 percent of the global sea surface. But more than 25 percent of marine biodiversity is supported by them,” he explains.

Artist Günsu Saraçoğlu explains the “Perfect Balance” virtual exhibition as follows: “It describes the chaos created by the human desire to dominate every field from past to present. Our roots are in nature, since the natural structure of nature is deteriorated, this series tries to draw attention to the natural texture and harmony in nature by creating textures.”

Stockholm+50, a healthy planet for the well-being of all Under the theme “Our Responsibility, Our Opportunity” anchoring the Decade of Action, the conference aims to accelerate sustainable and green economies, a green recovery that leads to more jobs, and where no one is left behind, for all. will focus on a healthy planet. This high-level meeting will follow months of consultations and discussions with individuals, communities, organizations and governments around the world, including Turkey, focusing on spending on the transition to green recovery.

Recognizing the importance of multilateralism in tackling the world's triple planetary crisis (climate, nature and pollution), Stockholm +50 aims to serve as a springboard to accelerate the implementation of the UN Decade of Action to meet the Sustainable Development Goals, including the 2030 agenda. The Paris Agreement on climate change encourages the adoption of the post-2020 global Biodiversity Framework and post-COVID-19 green recovery plans.
