The Republic of Turkey State Railways (TCDD) signed a cooperation protocol with the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) within the scope of conformity assessment, technical support and training activities of railway vehicles and wagons. The cooperation protocol was signed by TCDD General Manager Metin Akbaş and TSE President Prof. Dr. Signed by Adam Sahin. Akbaş stated that they have standardized high quality in railways.
TCDD, which has been authorized as the "Establishment Responsible for Maintenance (ECM)" within the scope of the Railway Vehicles Registration and Registry Regulation, signed a cooperation protocol with TSE for conformity and assessment activities, technical support and training activities that will be needed in the railway sector. Speaking at the signing ceremony, TCDD General Manager Metin Akbaş gave information about the developments in the railways. Reminding that they covered Turkey with railroads from one end to the other with towed vehicles, the number of which has reached 1000, Akbaş said, “According to the provisions of the Railway Vehicles Registration and Registry Regulation, it is obligatory to register these vehicles. In order for railway vehicles to be registered, the institution must have an "Establishment Responsible for Maintenance (ECM)" document. On February 15, 2022, TCDD was authorized as the "Maintenance Organization". We started our journey by signing a cooperation protocol with TSE, one of the respected institutions of our country, regarding the business and transactions we will carry out within the scope of this authority. As a result of the process, we signed a cooperation protocol with TSE to further develop the conditions for our maintenance tools and technical infrastructure and to carry out certification according to quality standards. I hope our protocol will be beneficial.” said.
President of Turkish Standards Institute Prof. Dr. Adem Şahin said, “We are under the umbrella of an ancient state institution.” He drew attention to the importance of the protocol in his speech. prof. Dr. Aydın said, “I think that our cooperation in the field of railways has a very important function. In fact, the railway is our very important issue, the subject we talk about the most, from the Ottoman period to the present. When we ignore the last 15-20 years in the Republican era, it is the mode of transportation that we neglect the most. Whoever is looking for the state where the word railway is mentioned is looking for the State Railways. It is not possible to destroy the brand value of the State Railways and the perception of the citizens. We want to take our expertise to a higher level thanks to TCDD in terms of accreditation and certification of all works to be done under this umbrella. Thank you to all my friends who contributed. After the speeches, TCDD General Manager Metin Akbaş and TSE President Prof. Dr. Adem Şahin signed the "Cooperation Protocol for TCDD-TSE Conformity Assessment and Other Activities".
