The submarine floating dock, produced under the contract signed between the Ministry of National Defense, General Directorate of Shipyards, ASFAT and Yütek Shipbuilding, will be launched in 2022.

Emre Koray Gençsoy, Director of ASFAT Naval Platforms, stated on his social media account that the submarine floating dock will be launched in 2022.

The haircut and first welding ceremony of the 3-ton submarine floating dock, which is in the fleet of the Turkish Naval Forces Command and will serve the newly built submarines, was held in August 2020 at the Hicri Ercili Shipyard.

The contract for the project was signed between the Ministry of National Defense, General Directorate of Shipyards, ASFAT and Yütek Shipbuilding. In this context, the submarine floating dock classified by Türk Loydu is being built at Hicri Ercili Shipyard.

First being built

Yücel Tekin, General Manager of Yütek Shipbuilding, who made a speech at the ceremony, stated that they are a company that has been carrying out different shipbuilding projects in maritime since 2001 and said, “We are proud to be a part of the submarine floating dock that will be built for the first time in Turkey.” It has been learned that the submarine floating dock will serve all national submarines (MILDEN) and all submarines, including the Preveze class, and it has been reported that the pool is the only one in the world in its size.

180 kilometers of cable

In the construction of the submarine floating dock, 2 tons of sheet metal, 500 tons of profiles, 480 tons of pipes, 320 pumps of various capacities, a movable roof and door system, 38 kilometers of power and data cables will be used.
