Real estate prices have been rising rapidly in recent years. Since the beginning of 2022, the highest rate of increase in housing has been seen in recent times.
According to the Central Bank data, the price increase in Turkey is 94 percent compared to last year. According to Bahçeşehir University Economic and Social Research Center (BEKAM), prices have increased by 134 percent throughout the country. According to experts, the main reason for this change in prices is that the supply cannot meet the demand.
While the fluctuation in the exchange rate, inflation and the increase in construction costs restrict supply, investment in housing in order to stay away from population growth, urbanization, immigration and inflation triggers the demand.
Experts say this could lead to a serious housing crisis if inflation is not brought under control and supply is not supported.
