The world winners of the Red Bull Paper Wings paper airplane competition, where the world's best pilots share their trump cards on paper, not in the cockpit, have been determined. The winners of the Red Bull Paper Wings 12 World Final, held in Salzburg, Austria, on May 14-2022, are Lazar Krstić in the “longest distance” category, Rana Muhammad Usman Saeed in the “longest flight” category and Seunghoon in the “aerobatics” category. Turkey winners showcased their skills

Prior to the Red Bull Paper Wings 2022 World Final, where the best paper airplane pilots from all over the world competed, the country finalists were selected in more than 60 local competitions in more than 500 countries. In the world final, Davut Basut represented Turkey in the “longest distance” category, Melke Karagöl in the “longest flying” category, and Ömer Asmasarı in the “aerobatics” category, where participants from all over the world competed on TikTok and won the right to participate directly in the finals.

Motivation, perseverance and dedication

The “longest distance” winner of the Red Bull Paper Wings 2022 World Final was Serbian Lazar Krstić. Krstić, who previously won the silver medal in the longest distance category in the Red Bull Paper Wings world final he attended in 2019, said, “I love being here and spending time with other competitors. Because of my competitive production, I worked hard, dedicating myself to improving myself through paper airplane design, shooting technique and physical exercises. As a result, I won the first place this year and I am very happy.”

First place after 10 years

Rana Muhammad Usman Saeed from Pakistan was the winner in the “longest time in the air” category of the Red Bull Paper Wings 2022 World Final with a throw of 14,86 seconds. Saeed also set a new record with a flight of 16,39 seconds in the preliminaries. Saeed, who also competed in the Red Bull Paper Wings world finals in 2012 but could not be in the top three, said: “I was in Hangar-2012 in 7, but I wasn't prepared so I couldn't get to the podium. "I've worked hard since then and finally achieved what I wanted to do."

Acrobatic performance and marriage proposal together!

Seunghoon Lee from South Korea won the first place in the "aerobatics" category of the Red Bull Paper Wings 2022 World Final, where Red Bull athlete Italian pilot Dario Costa was also on the jury seat. Crowning his remarkable performance with a black tuxedo in the first place, Lee proposed to his girlfriend with a paper airplane on the stage after the results were announced. Lee said, “I've been working on my presentation for a year. I asked my girlfriend to come with me and told her before the finals that if I won, I would propose to her. I am very happy that everything went well and that we won in every way.”
