Emphasizing that as İBB, they will always be with the youth, İmamoğlu said, “We want a giant metropolis like Istanbul, which affects not only our country but the whole world, to meet with the healing power of sports in every sense. The way to create a healthier and happier city is through sports," he said. İpek Bullet, born in 60, won the first race on the track in the category of “9,44 meters girls race” with a performance of 2013.

The first athletics track in the history of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), Engin Altay, CHP Group Deputy Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, and President of IMM Ekrem İmamoğluIt was opened to service with the ceremony held with the participation of . İmamoğlu greeted the citizens and athletes who filled the stands before the ceremony, together with his wife Dilek İmamoğlu. Faced with the intense interest of the participants, İmamoğlu couple had their memory photos taken with the athletes. İmamoğlu ran to the platform where he would speak for the opening of the Maltepe Athletics Track Facility.

“IT IS VALUABLE TO CELEBRATE 19 MAY WITH YOU”

Saying, "Today we are together on the anniversary of the beginning of one of the most important events in our national history, the journey of the War of Independence," İmamoğlu said, "Today is the day when the fire of one of the most important struggles of our nation, ever related to the absence of existence, was lit. So today is the day Mustafa Kemal Atatürk landed in Samsun on 19 May. This is the one hundred and third anniversary of the spirit of May 19, 1919. It is very valuable to celebrate this beautiful holiday, which was given to all of us by St. Atatürk, together with you.” Expressing his gratitude to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades in arms, İmamoğlu said, “May 19 is a holiday entrusted to the youth and future of this country. May 19 is a holiday like no other. Therefore, I hope that this celebration, this enthusiasm will be in a different form.”

CIRCUIT CRITICISM

Referring to the “Regulation of Ceremonies and Celebrations to be held on National and Official Holidays, Local Liberation Days, Atatürk Days and Historical Days”, İmamoğlu said, “About 11 years ago, celebrating 19 May is like a celebration of the Directorate of Youth and Sports or on April 23. A communiqué was published, as if it were a celebration of the Ministry of National Education. What has happened since then? Unfortunately, there has been a coup attempt in this country, this has happened, this has happened… They do not intend to change that. It is wrong. This is May 19, Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day. It was given to the nation. It was given to our children and young people, not to the Youth and Sports Directorate, for God's sake. It's part of him too, but not him. So this definitely needs to change. Where there is youth, there is always hope. It is a gift to the youth, because the youth is the future of this nation, it is the hope and the guarantee of existence.

"WE ARE ALWAYS WITH YOUTH"

Emphasizing that as IMM, they will always be by the side of the youth, İmamoğlu said, “We especially want our youth to be a youth that is prepared for the future in much better conditions, not a youth that despairs of these lands. My biggest project in Istanbul is services to the children and youth of this city. We work with my team to create opportunities in every field for the intellectual, physical and spiritual development of the children of this nation. Among the service areas of our municipality, perhaps one of the areas that motivates me the most is precisely these areas related to children and young people. It is my most fundamental and lofty duty to serve our citizens with the belief and spirit of full mobilization, and to provide good services that pave the way for our children and youth.”

“WE WANT ISTANBUL TO MEET WITH THE HEALING POWER OF SPORTS”

Noting that they took strategic steps to have young people have a say in IMM, İmamoğlu said, “We want to be a municipality that provides the children of this nation to use its resources in a fair and equal manner. We continue to take the steps taken for the first time in the history of this city, from preschool kindergartens, a municipality that has dormitories for the first time in its history, 'Young University Education Aid'. Expressing that 16 million people actively do sports is among their goals, İmamoğlu said, “We want a giant metropolis like Istanbul, which affects not only our country but the whole world, to meet with the healing power of sports in every sense. The way to create a healthier and happier city is through sports," he said.

“WE WILL WIN THE 2036 OLYMPICS TO ISTANBUL”

Sharing the information that he started athletics with the guidance of his physical teacher during his childhood, İmamoğlu noted that they continue to work with all relevant institutions and organizations to bring the 2036 Olympics to Istanbul. Saying, "We are aware that the 2036 journey will be strong with sports being done in every corner of our city," İmamoğlu said, "As interest in sports increases, we will become a healthy, happy Istanbul with a much more hopeful outlook to the future. That's why we produce and put into service projects for easier access of our people to sports opportunities. We will make Istanbul an Olympic city where healthy people do sports, are interested in sports, follow the competitions with enthusiasm, and live in it," he said. Emphasizing that the Maltepe Athletic Track, which they opened, is also within the scope of this vision, İmamoğlu said, “Maltepe Athletics Track was one of the most important promises we made to our people during the election period. As we do today, we keep our promises in this sense and fulfill them one by one, bringing them to Istanbul.”

A SIMILAR FACILITY WILL BE BUILT ON THE EUROPEAN SIDE

Having promised to bring a similar facility to Istanbul on the European side, İmamoğlu said to the citizens, “Bring our children and young people to our sports facilities all over our city, our municipality and all our institutions. Particularly register for Spor Istanbul's events in various branches. Allow them to grow up with athlete discipline. Let them learn about sports and make it a lifestyle. Thanks to sports, they will both lead a healthy life and be very successful in their lessons, education and life, as they learn to live with a programme. Expressing that Maltepe will be the center of the 19 May celebrations in Istanbul and the events will continue throughout the day, İmamoğlu emphasized that he will be in the area with his wife and children.

INVITATION TO CITIZENS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE “VOICE OF THE NATION” Rally

Inviting the citizens to the “Voice of the Nation” rally to be held on Saturday, May 21 at the Maltepe Rally Ground, İmamoğlu said, “Our Chairman will be in Maltepe. Especially in a supra-political meeting, those who listen to their nation and think with our nation, and on the Youth and Sports Day, where our young people put their hopes on these lands, where our young people get good education, 'If I work with merit, if I get my education well, it will happen, and I will tell uncles, aunts, uncles. We want to reach the days when they can say, "I don't need anyone, I don't need an acquaintance, I can get the job I want with my own success". 'I want to meet these days too. I also want to make my voice heard. If there are those who say, 'I want my voice to be louder there', if there are those who say, 'We want rights, law and justice,' -and there is, I know- we invite all Istanbulites to Maltepe on Saturday, May 21 at 18.00.

“WE ARE LIVING IN A PERIOD WHERE OUR ENERGY IS VERY HIGH”

İmamoğlu said, “From the first moment we set off, we live in a period when our energy is very high. No matter what the circumstances, we carry our energy higher every day. Because we are members of a young country. I am the mayor of a young Istanbul. The average age of this city is 32. Therefore, as a mayor who feels himself to be the average age of Istanbul, I will always continue to serve you with the energy of that youth. Happy 19 May Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day”.

ALTAY: “IMAMOĞLU BLESSED OUR FACE IN ISTANBUL”

Speaking before the ribbon cutting, Altay said, “I would like to thank Ekrem Abi of the children and young people in advance for this beautiful facility and what they will do for children and young people, for Istanbul from now on. Don't miss it, our faces were white. We are not ashamed of Istanbulites. Our heads are high, our foreheads are open. We open the athletics track. He also started sports with athletics in primary school. The 100-meter run has a performance, the marathon has a speed and performance. Thank God, my dear brother, he is running a marathon at 100 meters for Istanbul. Thank you very much. Dear young people, 103 years ago today, a ship docked at Samsun dock. A blue-eyed giant landed in the harbor, landed on the dock. He did not bow to the threats and defied the death warrant. He challenged the fatwas of the murderous wajib. He defied assassinations. He didn't take a step back. He didn't bend or bend, and he ran a great marathon from Samsun to İzmir and gifted us this Republic. And entrusted it to you. Turkey's youth should not despair of Turkey. He should not seek life in countries other than Turkey. Trust us and Turkey, the Republic of Turkey. A beautiful future awaits Turkish youth. Happy holidays. Good luck," he said.
