Metin Akbaş, General Manager of the Republic of Turkey State Railways (TCDD), met with the TÜBİTAK delegation and held a meeting in which organizational structures and management models were focused in order to increase the efficiency of logistics centers. At the meeting, it was stated that the aim was to implement the results obtained within the scope of the "System Analysis and Business Model Research Project for Increasing the TCDD Logistics Efficiency" conducted between 2019-2020.

Metin Akbaş, General Manager of TCDD, held a meeting with the team that carries out R&D studies in the management units of TÜBİTAK's Turkish Industry Management Institute (TÜSSIDE). In the program that took place in the meeting room of the General Directorate of TCDD, the general situation of the logistics centers was reviewed and the increase of their effectiveness was discussed. At the meeting; The detailed feasibility analyzes of the Köseköy, Yenice-Taşkent, Biçerova-Çakmaklı, Gelemen-Tekkeköy fields and the feasibility analyzes of the Kadirli and Derince fields were evaluated. Site planning, investment and equipment needs, services to be offered and price levels, competitive analyzes of competitors were discussed. As a result of field studies, potential customers and loads were analyzed. Organizational structure, general job descriptions and financial statements were examined. 5+5 year business targets and strategies of logistics centers were determined and an activity plan was created.

Stating that they had a productive meeting with the TÜBİTAK delegation, TCDD General Manager Metin Akbaş emphasized that the traces of the negativities experienced in the transportation sector were erased thanks to the logistics centers during the pandemic process that affected the world. Emphasizing that the importance of logistics centers is increasing day by day, Metin Akbaş said, “We held a productive meeting with the TÜBİTAK delegation to further increase the efficiency of logistics centers and to discuss organizational structures and management models. We will further increase the efficiency of our logistics centers by continuing our work in line with the field researches and the reports prepared.” said.
