Izmir Kemalpasa Metro Begins

Work continues for the Kemalpaşa Metro, which is the biggest investment in Kemalpaşa history.

Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç SoyerFollowing the good news shared by Kemalpaşa with the people of Kemalpaşa on August 3, the feasibility studies of the Kemalpaşa Metro, whose project tender was held on August 9, 2021, continue. A presentation was made at the Kemalpaşa Municipality by Mehmet Oğuz Ergenekon, Head of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Rail System Department, Arzu Yavuz, Director of the Investments Supervision Department, and Osman Balikay, the Map Control Engineer, regarding the projecting phase of the line, which is planned to be 27,5 kilometers long and with 11 stops between the Otogar - Kemalpaşa. Kemalpaşa District Governor Musa Sarı, Kemalpaşa Mayor Rıdvan Karakayalı, Deputy Mayors and relevant unit officials attended the presentation. While all the details of the metro line were discussed in the presentation, President Karakayalı was given detailed information about the project. The route created and the planned stations were revised considering the potential growth areas of the district.

Stating that the metro project is revolutionary for Kemalpaşa, Mayor Karakayalı said, “The project tender was held last August for the Kemalpaşa Metro, which our district has dreamed of for a very long time. Our Metropolitan Municipality Mayor, who tries to solve the increasing transportation need as a result of the increasing population and industrialization in our district, as well as the spread of residential and workplace areas to a wide area, with an environmentally friendly rail system, and put this issue at the forefront.
