Minister Kurum made statements regarding the Atatürk Airport and Kanal Istanbul discussions. Expressing that it is planned to plant 132 thousand 500 trees in the first stage, the institution said, “In the process, all of the bushes, flowers, plants, different types of trees and large trees that our people can shade under will be included in this project.”

Apart from the public garden, this will be a living space. It will be a disaster assembly area.”
Regarding the tracks, the Environment Minister Kurum said: “You already know on the tracks, we have a track. The east-west runway remains. We will use the infrastructure that we can use within the project on the north-south track. We try to build walking paths where there are tracks. We will build sports fields in those areas. We will use any available area of the north-south runway within the scope of the project.”
'Erdogan will continue to use the Hall of Fame'
The institution also stated that it will continue to use the Hall of Fame during President Erdogan's visits abroad, even after the airport is converted into a National Garden, and said, “It will be used for both emergency landings and civil flights. It will be used in times of disaster. We have a pandemic hospital there. It will serve the pandemic hospital. Ambulance planes will land,” he said.
Expressing that the emergency landing strip will continue to be used, the Authority said, “When we think that Atatürk Airport consists of two runways, it will continue to serve with all operations other than just one runway. We will continue to use the ports and other structures there in line with the needs during the operation of the airport. None of them will be left idle,” he said.
