The Volunteer Agreement for the reduction of air pollutant emissions from ships berthing and mooring in Trieste & Monfalcone Ports was signed in Trieste.

On May 11, 2022, the Volunteer Agreement for the reduction of air pollutant emissions from ships berthing and mooring in Trieste & Monfalcone Ports was signed in Trieste by the Eastern Adriatic Sea Port Authority, Trieste Port President, Monfalcone Port President, Shipping Companies and Sea Freight Agencies.

In accordance with the Volunteering Agreement, the procedures to be followed for alternative compliance methods to fuel change or emission reduction commitments during berthing at Trieste Port or Monfalcone Port will be notified to those concerned in the directives.

Without prejudice to the requirements for safe navigation at sea and for the protection of human life at sea, in order to optimize the use of main and/or auxiliary engines in order to limit the release of exhaust gases to the atmosphere, in the port area, during cruising, mooring/anchoring maneuvers and while anchored, in accordance with good maritime practices. technical action will be taken.
