175 BUTTERFLY SPECIES LIVE IN THE CAPITAL

Bekir Ödemiş, Head of the Department of Cultural and Natural Heritage, who attended the opening of the exhibition, drew attention to the fact that there are over 175 butterfly and moth species in the Capital, and said: “There are over 175 butterfly and moth species in Ankara, but unfortunately most of them are not known by our citizens from Ankara. We wanted such an important wealth in Ankara to be visible and known by the people of Ankara and to pass it on to future generations. Our goal is to make Ankara a livable, qualified, identity city by protecting its natural, historical and cultural values and archaeological heritage. We will show our exhibition from Nallıhan to Evren in our other districts and ensure that all our existing values in Ankara are known to the people of Ankara.”

Stating that they wanted to raise awareness with the exhibition about the butterfly world of Başkent, Altın Oran Photography Art Association President Prof. Dr. Adnan Ataç said, “There has never been an exhibition of night butterflies in Turkey. For the first time, we are doing it together with the Metropolitan Municipality in Ankara. It makes us happy to raise awareness. Nocturnal butterflies are an unknown subject and they are very special butterflies. Therefore, it is necessary to introduce butterflies,” he said.
