Amineh Kakabaveh was born on December 6, 1970 in Saqqez, Iran. He is a Swedish former Left Party politician of Iranian Kurdish descent. She has been a member of the Swedish Parliament since 2008. He joined Komalah and became a Peshmerga fighter at the age of thirteen before fleeing to Sweden via Greece and Turkey. Before entering parliament, Kakabaveh earned a master's degree in social work from Stockholm University and worked as a social worker in Stockholm.
Inspired by the French movement Ni Putes Ni Soumises (Neither Whores nor Mats), Kakabaveh founded the feminist and anti-racist organization Varken hora eller kuvad in 2005. As a politician and opinion leader, Kakabaveh deals with issues such as honor crimes, women's rights and secularism. His work has made him a controversial figure in Swedish politics and within his own Left party, but he has also been awarded the title "Swedish of the Year" by Fokus magazine.
His autobiography Amineh – inte större än en kalasjnikov (“Amineh – no bigger than Kalashnikov”) was published in 2016 and detailed his time with the Peshmerga. In 2019, he was threatened with expulsion from the Left Party as a result of a protracted conflict with the party leadership. He left the party voluntarily before the issue was resolved.
