In the AKP Central Executive Board, it was decided to replace Özkan with the Chairman of the Parliamentary Justice Committee and Bartın Deputy Yılmaz Tunç. Tunç will officially assume this post after the election in the Parliamentary group on Tuesday.

Who is Cahit Özkan, how old is he and where is he from?

Cahit Özkan (born December 25, 1976, Çivril, Denizli) is a Turkish politician and lawyer.

He completed his undergraduate education at Istanbul University Faculty of Law and studied Legal English in London. He completed his master's degree in Private Law at Kocaeli University, and in the field of Human Rights at Istanbul Bilgi University, and prepared a master's thesis on 'Trial Procedure in the European Court of Human Rights'.

He served in many non-governmental organizations, including the Vice President of the International Association of Lawyers, the General Secretary of the Constitutional Lawyers Association, the President of the International Law Center, the Chairman of the Executive Board of the Rule of Law Platform and the President of the Lawyers Association.

He also worked as a lawyer and taught Human Rights Law as a lecturer at the Police Academy.

He was elected as the 2007th Term Denizli Deputy in the November 2011, 1 elections, following his candidacy for the AK Party Şişli District Board of Directors and Denizli Deputy in the 2015 and 26 General Elections. In 2017, he was elected to the AK Party Central Decision and Board of Directors. He was appointed as AK Party Group Deputy Chairman on 7 July 2018. He was dismissed as AK Party Group Deputy Chairman on 19 May 2022.

He speaks English and Arabic. He is married and has 3 children.
