All of the public beaches operated by Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Denizkızı Turizm A.Ş. will open for the summer season as of June 1st. Metropolitan, which has started to host holidaymakers at 6 beaches, including Kızkalesi, Yapraklıkoy and Susanoğlu, is making final preparations at 6 beaches.
The number of Blue Flags on the beaches of the Metropolitan increased to 5 this year.
Mersin Metropolitan Municipality, which operates the public beaches of Kızkalesi, Susanoğlu, Yapraklıkoy, Yemişkumu, Kocahasanlı, Kumkuyu, Tırtar, Töbank, Sultankoyu, Akkum, Limonlu and Kocahasanlı on the Mediterranean coasts stretching from Erdemli to Silifke, has also increased the number of Blue Flags to 5 this year.

Noting that there were 3 Blue Flags on the beaches last year, Deputy General Manager Ahmet Yıldız said, “We kept our number of Blue Flags, which was 2 at Susanoğlu Public Beach last year, this year as well. Last year, we increased the number of Blue Flags, which was 1 on the beach of Kızkalesi, to 2 this year. This year, we have won the Blue Flag for our Kocahasanlı Public Beach, which has no blue flag.” Yıldız emphasized that they continue to work and negotiate to increase the number of Blue Flags each year.
“As of June 1, active service will be provided at our 12 beaches”
Yıldız, who informed that the season will open as of June 1 at all beaches belonging to Mersin Metropolitan, said, “We have 12 public beaches in total. Our 6 public beaches are currently in active service. Work continues on our other 6 public beaches. As of June 1, 2022, active service will be provided at our 12 beaches. A friendly and high-quality service awaits our citizens this year as well. We have increased sunbeds, umbrellas, showers, changing cabins and WCs on our beaches. We have lodge areas and disabled ramps. In our cafes, we will also present our food and beverage products to our citizens at affordable prices and in a hygienic way. We are waiting for all our citizens to Mersin Metropolitan Municipality beaches in the summer of 2022.

Adding that they attach great importance to hygiene measures on the beaches, Yıldız said, “In 2020, we started to use disposable products in our buffets with the pandemic. We have increased the number of WCs and showers. We have increased the number of our changing cabins. We provided sun loungers in 1,5 square meters, 3 by 3, suitable for a distance of 9 meters. Although the effect of the pandemic has decreased, as Mersin Metropolitan Municipality, we are implementing these measures to the letter this year as well.

Serap Koyak, who works as a cashier at the cafe, said, “Our cafes are serving on the beaches of our Municipality this year as well. I'm in charge of our cafe on Kızkalesi beach. This year, we offer friendly service, a variety of flavors and affordable products in our cafes. We welcome our guests who come to our beaches to our cafes”, while Enes Emir Taş, who is in charge of Kızkalesi Public Beach, said, “Our guests who come here can swim in the sea with peace of mind. We are on duty at the beaches of our municipality," he said.
The Kılıç family, who came to Kızkalesi for 3 generations, opened the sea season
Kılıç family from İskenderun opened the season at Kızkalesi Public Beach. Yiğit Efe Kılıç, the youngest of the Kılıç family who came to the sea for 3 generations, said, “The sea is very beautiful. I can go as far, it's not deep at all. The sand is very nice, very soft and warm. I came with my family. We will come all summer. I love Kızkalesi very much, Kızkalesi makes me very happy”.
Yiğit Efe's father, Fatih Kılıç, said, “It's not our first time in Mersin, we've been to Mersin many times before. We love Mersin. All beaches are beautiful, Kızkalesi is beautiful. The view, the beach, the sea, everything is very beautiful. Mersin Metropolitan Municipality is really successful in beaches, it does its job well.”
Dede Ramazan Kılıç said: “I especially prefer the Mediterranean beaches. With my family, we come every year to the beaches we find beautiful on the Mediterranean coast.
